a bearing is what i'm looking for. something more permanent and wont wear as fast. what you linked is one that uses set screws i believe and i don't think that works in a 70 column.

inside of column shift tube is 1.40" (ish) .... hard to measure with the shaft going down the middle. when I corrected the delrin bushing in the kit to fit in there.....I tappered it from 1.40" at the tip to 1.47" at the base.... so it would press in. it fits nicely and hasn't come off. the...

no idea what the L1 and 35R mean. Can’t find a date on it. came off a 4/70 build date 340 swinger...so possible its late 69...but being there is no date...that should also work techincally.

Didn’t read this whole thread yet… but wanted to reply specific to your mentioning the automatics and front seal leakage and flexplate cracks. B&M flexplates are supplied with instructions for checking runout and they even say that the flexplate is good for stock to somewhat mild engines… but...

You mean like this bad boy right here with crinkle paint and orange tin with zero dents or scratches that still has a gasket…. Although I’d replace the gasket and repaint it. Some of it is flacking.

Funny thing…. Cracked a flexplate or bearing in trans just driving to go get a shipping quote for the alternator I’m selling. So really…. You never know what’s gonna happen. No matter how you drives. This was a full sfi b&m plate too. Pretty sure it cracked at or let loose a crank side...
