Want to stay stock with 13" tires, but can't get them

Yes, I was trying to order those at Coker but they were not in stock, backordered. Vredestein tires in this size were out of stock in every place I looked.

    273 HEAD GASKETS

If anyone actually knows of a 273 head gasket with the correct bore diameter other than special order, really expensive, Cometic gaskets please speak up. My understanding is that you have to use a 318 gasket now-days on a 273 because they no longer make 273 gaskets other than really expensive...

Want to stay stock with 13" tires, but can't get them

I too am staying with the 13" wheels on my 1964 Dart V8. It is very frustrating to find the right size tires for this car but after many days of searching and finding dead ends I finally found the tires that are as correct as you can find and aren't trailer tires. The challenge is not what is...

    1965 Barracuda Brake Pedal

Great timing! I was going to post with the same question for my '64 Dart. Could not find a brake pedal illustration anywhere in either the 64 or 66 FSM. Every other pedal except brake pedal had an illustration. I used PB Blaster on the pivot bushings and my pedal now moves freely. I also...

    Early A Fender Decode Please.

Almost no information available for decoding the early A body tags that I could find. You do have date made (04/07), body type (V49)(Barracuda?), and probably can find interior color and body color by searching. On my 1964 Dart I contacted Chrysler Historical (now Stellantis Historical...

    4 lb Intake

For the year of the engine there should be a casting date number on the side of the block passenger side near drain fitting. Compare that to your build date on fender tag. On my 64 Dart it worked that way.

    Very strange compression test results

OK, the engine runs like a champ after fixing the valve lash. It is still an old engine for sure but now it runs smooth and will drive. So I can drive it around a bit and see what else needs work without having to pull the engine first. I tested a few cylinders when it was warm and most...

Yes, that is what I'm thinking too.

    Very strange compression test results

Valves have been adjusted and new compr test run (cold). Much better results, now the engine should run smoother. I will run a warm compr test now that it should run better. Curious if the low cylinder will change.

    Very strange compression test results

A lot of the valves had zero lash, really tight. So I am adjusting them and will do another compression check. I lucked into a pair of rebuilt heads at a reasonable price with the same 1964 casting number so I will have a backup.

    Very strange compression test results

I didn't think of that one. I will take a look at the valve lash.

    Very strange compression test results

1964 273 engine. I bought the car knowing the engine didn't run right (price adjustment). I know for sure I have to remove from car and take it apart to figure this one out! Condition: 1) Engine has been rebuilt probably once in lifetime 2) It does run (poorly). Starts right up with no...

Fender tag decode help with top 2 lines

I was hoping that Chrysler Historical could find my IBM build card but they just responded that they could not find the card for my VIN number. I have struck out on both fender tag and build card fronts. Onward with just working on car!

Fender tag decode help with top 2 lines

The bottom line codes are easily decoded but I can't find any source that covers the top 2 lines. Here is my fender tag. 1964 Dart GT V8 VIN shows a plant number of 5 which is Los Angeles. Thanks.

Build sheet service not available from Chrysler Historical? <Solved>

They say the can give a free copy of the IBM build card to use for decoding. That is what they used then for a "broadcast sheet". All I have is the fender tag.

Build sheet service not available from Chrysler Historical? <Solved>

I am having my emails to the Stellantis Historical Services rejected due to bad contact errors it seems. The latest request form from them shows a contact of daniell.szostak@stellantis.com but that gets rejected. Maybe only mail in works now? Anyone have more current information for them...

    1964 Dart 273 V8 factory service manual?

I think I know what I am going to have to do but: Ref: I have a 1964 Dart GT V8 with original early 273 engine. 1) I have the 1964 Dodge dart factory service manual but it does not cover the 273 engine. 2) I also have a 1964 Service Reference Book that covers the 273 engine but is just tune up...

1964 H/SA "ManHunt" Dart driven by Karen Schultz

i don't think we will know. His email to me only said he dropped out of the D/Dart program mid season and did not follow the D/Darts after that. The photo you refer shows what looks like H/SO on the window.

1964 H/SA "ManHunt" Dart driven by Karen Schultz

Here is a Eastern Drag News (Aug 6, 1965) Dragway 42 blurb I found for this car. I can't find results for this car but the H/SA class ran between 14.8 and 15.2 from other car results.

1964 H/SA "ManHunt" Dart driven by Karen Schultz

I don't think I've posted this info before, a search did not find anything. If I did I will remove this one. When I was researching D/Darts for my website I talked with Wayne Schultz of the Porach Dodge D/Dart fame. He sent me the info on his wife's Dart that won the H/SA class at the 1965...
