727 build-unable to adjust rear band

damn right it is. I understand what you're saying. I could have sworn I put the correct year range in there when I bought the kit. I didn't do my due diligence comparing the parts when I received them, however. O well, it is what it is.

727 build-unable to adjust rear band

yup. i pulled the lever pin, removed the lever, and grabbed the lugs; they touch with a ton of room underneath in between the band and the drum. i must have ordered the wrong band. i should have checked first i guess. i wouldnt have even thought to check engagement if you guys didnt mention it...

727 build-unable to adjust rear band

Yes, sir. i believe it's oriented correctly. long ways between the lug and lever. shoved it in there until it's held captive. stock strut (i think) that was in there when i tore it apart. I picked up the band from oregon performance. i'm not sure if the sizes of the strut change throughout the...

727 build-unable to adjust rear band

i thought the same thing. i figured maybe i might have been sent the wrong band or something like that. i cant make out a part number right now so i might have to pull it to check. ill try to see if i can borrow a buddy's torque wrench to see if mine is not calibrated right.

727 build-unable to adjust rear band

I'm almost done building this 727, but I can't torque the rear band adjustment screw to 72 inch pounds. Its just keeps going, and I run out of threads. I searched a few different forums, and post #9 of this thread was the closest I could find. 727 band strut install Any simple but important...

    360 magnum troubles

i used these https://www.summitracing.com/parts/uem-kb107-030/overview/make/dodge the cam is .282/.282 duration and around .525 lift. i didnt degree it though, and when i put it together i didnt even know what cam timing was. just stabbed it in there. I do know the cam and crank gears are...

    360 magnum troubles

ill check the pump shot in the sun tomorrow. i wouldnt think its too light, but maybe it is. the squirters are pretty big (forgot the number). maybe i need to step up to a 50cc pump assy or change the pump cam? it drops a hefty amount of fuel when i move the throttle linkage. the idle seems...

    360 magnum troubles

I havent done anything to the heads besides put on the stock rockers. They did have the 2.02 and 1.8 valves though. by pump shot being too light, do you mean its running lean or might need a bigger accelerator pump? 20* initial. i couldnt get it to run right with any less.

    360 magnum troubles

I rebuilt a 360 magnum and threw it in my Dart, but I can't get the damn thing running right. This is my first engine build and after a ton of problems, I finally got it to idle. The new problem arises when I apply any throttle. I can get it to start up and idle; but when i give it any throttle...

    stumped!

Also, just thought I'd add. Drained the tank and put fresh gas Plugs not fouled. A tester said they are getting spark, but I pulled one and I couldn't visibly see spark. Also, I checked the cam timing by seeing what the rocker arms are doing. 30° btdc the #1 cylinder intake rocker arm was...

    stumped!

alright, so i finally got a chance to get back into it last week. still couldnt get it started. im gonna go pop it open right now again. i was thinking maybe i installed the rocker arms wrong so i was going to re install them. but it says the stock harmonic balancer has something called a "v8...

    stumped!

it was a brand new timing chain and sprocket set. if i remember correctly we lined up the 2 dots. the dot on the crank sprocket being at the top, while the dot on the cam sprocket was at the bottom of the sprocket ( -) (- ) <---like this but vertical will definitely try that. i dont...

    stumped!

thanks for the offer, man. ive seen another dart around here with a fabo sticker on it. this is a pretty cool community. 1. Im pretty sure the cam is timed correctly. But now you got me questioning it. we lined up the timing dots and the notch cam key. the half circle. im not sure what its...

    stumped!

i think it was compression. pulled the spark plug from the number 1 cylinder and put my finger up to it til air came out. right. the first time i tried i did it to the physical location lol. but i figured that out hmm i may need to put it back the way i had it then. on a couple tries, it...

    stumped!

Alright, dudes. I need your help. I finished rebuilding a 360magnum, got it dropped in the car, and ready to go. and now for the life of me, i can't get it started. all cylinders are getting spark, grounded properly, and the starter is spinning fast enough. my suspicion is that i dont...

    Need a bit of guidance

hmm it seems i have overlooked some details. this is my first engine build. pulled this 360 from a 99 ram. had it hot tanked and bored .030 over. the keith black are flat tops with fly cuts. got a set of eq heads with the 2.02 sized valves currently have a set of oem rockers. the...

    Need a bit of guidance

hmm maybe i phrased it incorrectly. i was checking on one cylinder. one rocker bolt was all the way threaded in and the pushrod was still very loose and not making contact with the rocker. the other rocker was sitting nice and tight on the pushrod. i thought maybe i needed a couple of solid...

    Need a bit of guidance

so last night my buddy and i finally got around to checking valve to piston clearance. When we had the lifters, pushrods, head, and rockers installed, the pushrods were seated at different heights. I'm assuming this is because they are hydraulic lifters. as i rotate the crank, will they seat...

Gues what? another header thread!!! all are welcome

but if i dont get hookers, then i cant put the sticker in my window. and thats the best part of having hooker headers. :D i guess i could just get the sticker separate. Also, i feel i should mention that right now it has a 904, but i plan on swapping in a 4 speed in the very near future...

Gues what? another header thread!!! all are welcome

and that is exactly why i dont like them. put a pair of hedmans on my comet. when they said painted i thought to myself, "cool they come in high temp paint." NOPE. is there a good way to strip them for header paint that doesnt involve installing them, burning them off, and taking them off again?
