Canuck 1965 Valiant VIN/Fender Tag Decoding Mystery

I just saw this and thought I could help out a bit, as I also have a 1965 Valiant Custom 100 convertible and a hardtop coupe. You had the VIN tag mostly correct: V3E59139221 V - Valiant - short wheelbase 3 - High Price Range - 6 cylinder E - Convertible 5 - 1965 Year 9 - Windsor Assembly Plant...

    1965 Valiant Wagon Two Tone

I would be interested in seeing some close up shots of where the paint break is on the front pillar. Is there a piece of trim separating the colors? I parted out a 2-tone sedan (white top, dark teal body) a long time ago and I'm considering doing a similar treatment to my '65 hardtop.

63-66 Early A-Body...what parts do you need??

perhaps the vinyl top trim pieces off the lower front pillar of a 66 barracuda might work. It's for my '65 Valiant.

63-66 Early A-Body...what parts do you need??

I would need front pillar vinyl top mouldings (the small tiny ones that should be near the bottom of the A-pillar).

Possibly the ugliest Barracuda I have ever draged home, But it is so cool!

If you don't mind, could you post a photo of the front pillar trim piece for the vinyl top? I'm trying to find out what they look like and where they go. I'd like to put a vinyl top on my '65 Valiant.

    A833 in GM trucks?

GM transmission code MY6. I have one in my truck. The internals are regular A833 OD. The transmission case, input shaft, input bearing retainer, output shaft, tail housing are all GM specific. It does not bolt up to a regular GM bellhousing as it has a hybrid GM/Mopar bellhousing pattern, so it...

    D-dart links

I'm wondering about the air cleaner on the D-Darts. Were they from some other application? I can't see it being very cost effective to make a specific air cleaner housing for such a small production run. I'd like to find a similar air cleaner.

1966 Barracuda, 1966 Valiant Conv, 1964 Barracuda Junkyard Pics!! What do you need?

On the vinyl top Barracuda, I am interested in the vinyl top trim on the windshield pillars (small chrome pieces that screw on) if they're still there.

    64-66 Valiant vinyl top trim

I'd like to add a vinyl top to my 1965 valiant hardtop, and I think the only piece of trim I need is the front pillar trim piece. Does anybody have any pictures of what these trim pieces look like, and perhaps what other cars these came on? I tried a front pillar trim piece off a '76 dart, and...

New patch panels and trunk extentions for early "A" bodies

I need at least one set of trunk drop down panels for my '65 Valiant convertible, and possible another set for my 65 Valiant hardtop. Rear floor pans would be great. I need 2 sets.

Anybody use a 64-65 Super Stock Scoop?

I'm trying to see if a 64-65 Hemi Super Stock B-body scoop would fit on my 65 Valiant hood witout looking out of place. I know a '67 Super Stock coronet scoop looks nice, but would like to use the same year scoop as the car. To those that have already investigated this: - How does the rear...

    Vinyl Top for Valiant?

Even though my Valiant is a canadian car, it's a Custom 100, so, it uses the '65 US Valiant body, which is a little different than the Dart shell. I'm just wondering what kind of mouldings the Valiants use when the vinyl top is used. I parted out a '65 sedan with factory two-tone paint, but it...

    Vinyl Top for Valiant?

I've seen a couple pictures of vinyl topped '64-65 Valiants, and I think it actually looks really good. What do I need to do to add it to my car? any special trim pieces? Anybody have detailed pictures of the vinyl top?

    Oil pans

Did you have to do any clearance work on the K-frame at all? Those dimensions are great! Thanks! I had an old moroso pan on an engine I bought. It was really low, and leaked at the sump weld. The roads hear are really bad in some spots, so ground clearance is pretty important...

    Oil pans

What oil pans will work in the early a-body's? I am planning to swap in a 360 in my '65 Valiant. I am assuming any stock 360 pan should fit. What about aftermarket pans like Milodon or Moroso? I would like a bit more capacity, but don't really want to lose ground clearance. I've seen some...

    TTIs Vs. Doug's

Well, that's a pretty sweet picture! How much clearancing is required on the trans tunnel with the Lakewood? Which Hydraulic clutch are you using? I do have one little hang-up on my project. I'm using W5 heads. I know TTI offers a W5 flange. Heck, they even offer bolt on W5 headers for later...

    TTIs Vs. Doug's

I would like to know as well, as I am going to need a set of headers for my '65 Valiant. I will likely be using a Lakewood scatershield though, so that throws even more stuff in the way. I am converting from an automatic, so will be using a hydraulic clutch setup as well. I might even consider...

273 Commando Air Cleaners and Valve Covers

D/Dart stuff is always interesting to see... I wonder what the original application for that lid was? It's got to be from some common application. I might just have to use an aftermarket air cleaner. We'll see. I'm getting my intake manifold next week, so I'll be able to try and measure.

I found a used Fram CA160 filter laying in the trash and tried it in my slant six lid. (I think it was a CA160... came from a '67 Polara with a 318). It seems to fit the registers good. there's around 1/4 inch clearance all the way around... kinda tight, no? If that's the same as a 273 4bbl...

So, the filter element for the HP 273 should be the same as a slant six then, assuming the lid is the same? Height might be a problem for me. I was hoping to use a Thermoquad on a Mopar Performance M1 single plane. That will likely put me into the hood.
