Forgive my ignorance, when you say the stud needs replacement: 1) Which part is that? 2) Any idea how difficult that is to do? TIA

    '68 Barracuda grille questions

Thanks for the heads up. If I understand you, that's actually the main sheet metal that got damaged. Bumper is fine. I suppose the good thing for me is that the car was repainted (and pretty well, including engine bay) about 10 years ago so I don't have to deal w/ any rusted on, 49 year old...

    '68 Barracuda grille questions

Sadly, this happened in my own driveway. Car was covered and I didn't find out until a while after it happened. Could've been postal worker, UPS, neighbor, friend, who knows. Stuff happens. I do have insurance but would rather save myself that hassle. Yeah, I'm finding quickly how much all...

    '68 Barracuda grille questions

Had the unfortunately experience of someone backing into the front end of my '68. Along w/ metalwork, the grilles we're bent/cracked. I'm trying to understand what pieces I actually need to replace. Sadly, they're beyond bending back into shape. It looks like there's 3 different pieces (not...

[FOR TRADE] A body auto console plate for your 4 speed plate

I have what I believe to be the original console to my 1968 Barracuda. The previous owner converted the car from an auto to a 5 speed (Tremec) but left off the console. I'd like to see if I can re-install the console by using a 4 speed plate vs cutting up the auto plate I have now. It's in...

68 Barracuda console conversion - auto to manual

The top plate is actually in pretty good condition which is why I have the dilemma. One of the things that does puzzle me is the need for the hump on the side of the console. I don't see why I'd need that on my existing console and hoping that just having a larger opening will work on the...

68 Barracuda console conversion - auto to manual

Thanks RedFish. Sweet lord those plates aren't cheap. http://www.pgclassic.com/331-70-mopar-1969-71-a-body-diecast-woodgrain-4-speed-console-top-plate/

68 Barracuda console conversion - auto to manual

I have a 68 Barracuda that the previous owner converted from auto to manual (Tremec T5with pistol grip). I was bummed that there was no console and stopped looking for one when I saw the prices. Yesterday, I got the original console from the previous owner. I said I'd like to have a...

    Recs for license plate restoration?

Couldn't find a proper thread location so thought I'd try here first. I have a '68 Barracuda fastback and hooked up w/ the previous owner/restorer yesterday. He sold me a bunch of original parts and aftermarket stuff that he no longer had use for. (Some of those parts will definitely end up...

widest tire for rear 68 cuda

Sorry, don't have a good profile pic but running 255 60R15 in the rear with stock suspension. TBH, it's a bit high for me, considering dropping the profile in the back w/ smaller (lower profile) rubber. mvh, good to see another person from Menlo Park. Can't say I've seen your ride around...

    Possible MSD 6AL failure

Been a while, thought it'd be useful for others to have an update. 1) Bought a spark tester. Tested the spark and all seemed to be working as normal. I couldn't get it into failure mode so I was never able to test the spark in the right 'scenario'. 2) My Blaster 2 coil was mounted...

    Alternatives to KYB?

I have Hellwig 1 1/8" in front and Hellwig 1" in back. I just installed the Bilsteins from PST on Friday and drove it most of the weekend. IMMEDIATE difference. My KYB's pretty much bottomed out on any bump, pothole or crack in the road. It was as if it shook the entire frame of the car...

    Replace analog MSD 6AL with?

I have an older MSD 6AL (6420 model) which is the analog one. It's been giving me intermittent start issues and I'm about to replace it (6AL 6425 probably). My mech (who's a Mopar guy) isn't a fan and he's pulled them off his own Superbird and 70 'Cuda 440 and returned to stock. I'm not...

1966 Barracuda - CL from Norcal

This is not mine but I did run into the owner/car at the Normandin Mopar Show in San Jose, CA last month. I'm not a fan of the older body style but this thing sounded like a BEAST, in a good way. My favorite part of this car was the wheels/tire combo. I couldn't figure out what wheels he was...

Awesome James. Yup, the multiple threads on suspension keep bringing up the Bilsteins for sure. Order made. Looking forward to getting them installed.

    LOVE the stance on that.

    Couple of questions

    1) How do we get the 10% discount? 2) I was interested in the Bilstein's for my A body but I just checked the website and the info is gone. What happened?

    Alternatives to KYB?

Cool. At this point, I'm leaning towards the Bilsteins. Seeing as PST appears to have a forum discount which would make the pricing attractive.

    68 Judge 4X4.......WTF?

I kinda like it. Granted, if you put GIANT chrome rims on it, then it becomes a donk. Those I hate. This thing's not any worse than the Fast N Loud 4x4 Mustang vert with the light bar. THAT'S a travesty.

    Alternatives to KYB?

    1) I found a Hotchkiss kit on Summit. Are these the Hotchkiss you guys are referring to? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hss-79020015/overview/year/1968/make/plymouth/model/barracuda 2) There's a cost delta between the Bilstein's and Hotchkiss. I'm already coming from KYB. Is the change...

    Possible MSD 6AL failure

Ah yes. But that assumes I have an oscope, which I don't at home. Sadly, I don't have a full on bench at home garage. That's on my wish list.

    New '68 Cuda Owner

Thanks folks. I always considered this car one of those 'fugly' ones, so I'm pretty shocked on the amount positive reactions this car gets. I've gotten stopped, high fives, thumbs up, had 'Barracuda' a la Heart yelled at me on the road, Mopar club fans taking pix at the car wash, guy yelling...

    New '68 Cuda Owner

New owner here, picked it up at Mecum in Monterey last month. I've been working the wife for a while to prep her for my mid-life crisis car. She hesitantly agreed, as long as it was a driver. She didn't want a garage queen that no one could touch/drive. Worked for me because the daily driver...

    Possible MSD 6AL failure

Any spark testers you guys recommend? I see a ton on Amazon, some w/ just on/off light, some w/ adjustable gap, etc. Might as well do it right the 1st time and make sure I have the proper tool, as I'm probably going to be using this a lot.
