    Idle problem need help

Try setting your idle to 750 with the vacuum advance set on the other vacuum port, either your engine will speed up when you plug it in to the other port or not change at all. If it speeds up then lower the idle speed to 750 and try putting it in gear. See if that helps. There are two ports...

    M1 Intake for the Street?

Deciding between the RPM and the M1 Single plane, the combo is 340 cam power range will be approx 2500-6800 3.91 2800-3000 stall. Are the M1's designed for street cars or Race cars? I seen some M1's with a 4500 + RPM powerband..not good for my purpose. What is the powerband of a...

help w/ Yukon axles & thrust spacers

I came across this quote in my research.....because green bearings don't have the endplay adjustment the axle lenth will be off somewhat. Note: there was a slight dimensional change in axle shaft length when the Sure Grip design changed. If interchanging axles with the slight difference...

    2.25" or 2.5" exhaust?

2.25 is all you need for smaller engines. The 2.5 sound deeper but if you put too big an exhaust on you could potentially hurt torque/performance.

Troubleshooting my car! help make it run!

Next time you take it out, drive it until its warm and stumbling/stalling and then park it at home, or the mall, where ever. Leave it for 5 - 10 minutes and then start it up and drive it again. If it runs fine for the rest of the day then your carb is freezing up on you. When you shut it off...

Depends on what you started with. 6 cyl car, have at er..... Numbers matching Hemi Car, probably restore it to original. My swinger doesn't have the numbers matching 340 so I bought a 340 and am going to play with it, probably going to keep it mostley stock looking but performace...

    The H words.

One trick we did was go to the autoparts store and look at the cheap chrome air cleaners, different manufacturers have a different amount of "drop" to them and you can just buy the air cleaner that works best and swap out the base and keep your lid, it will allow you to drop the aircleaner down...

help w/ Yukon axles & thrust spacers

I tell you what!, I just ordered a pair of yukon axles and when they get here I'll measure them up and we can compare the differences in overall lenght. I'd be interested to know if there is a slight difference, I've seen the axles on different sites stating "factory lenght A-body" and some...

help w/ Yukon axles & thrust spacers

I'm not sure if its the same problem or actually two problems. I don't have a set of each to see if the yukon axles are longer than the Factory A body axles by a bit. If they are the exact same lenght then its all to do with the Green bearings and just trimming the axles a bit on each end...

help w/ Yukon axles & thrust spacers

I know this thread is a couple months old but I figure some guys can learn something about whats going on. When I put Green axle bearings on my 72 swinger with factory SBP axles and a 742 case suregrip I had to trim the axles a touch because bolting the axles in with the green bearings caused...

Wiped out my heads/valves... I think

If you took the camshaft thrust plate off and didn't torque it back on then it can loosen off and fall into the timing chain and get shredded. Then the camshaft walks forward and the lifters hit the lobes next to the correct ones and you end up kissing pistons and all sorts of interesting stuff...

Putting a Solid cam in a Hydraulic Block??

I don't feel right stroking a 340, I'll stroke a 360 till the cows come home but 340's arn't getting any more common. Especially in Canada where people want mega bucks for a 340 core. Plus I want a 340 in my 340 swinger, I'll build a stroker later on a 360 platform if I feel the urge. My...

Putting a Solid cam in a Hydraulic Block??

I'm entertaining different ideas for Camshafts for the 340 I'm building. What do you have to do to a engine that was originally a Hydraulic cam to put a solid cam in it. Can you just slide the Solid lifters in and away you go or do you have to bush the lifter bores and monkey around a bit to get...

    Connecting Rods???

So the H beams are still lighter than factory offerings. Sounds good, definitly don't mind losing some weight while gaining strength. I'll end up studding and align boring the maincaps too. Should make a solid bottom end.

    Connecting Rods???

Do you think the added weight of a set of H beam rods is anything to be worried about for a street motor. I'm building a 340 and I want it to be Bullet Proof, I bought a set of Ross Forged Pistons from a FABO member, the pistons were the NHRA stock eliminator legal pistons which are a pretty...

These are the buckets from my 1970 Swinger 340 with the H6X9 interior. Having trouble with finding reproduction seat skins that match these. I'm wondering if they are correct or if someone has swapped them. IIRC I have seen other darts with these seats so I don't think so. What do your seats...

    Rear End Traction Recommendations Needed

The tire is hitting the front because the torque of the rear axle is bending the front of the spring pack actually making it shorter and causing the axle to move forward slightly especially if they are the originals with 103,000 miles on them.
