Thanks for the comments. If I had a set of W5 heads sitting on my desk it might be easier to just do it. I really don't understand the lack of support for w2/w5 heads or why someone isn't making new versions of those heads or ferrous rockers to match.

I have one of Larry Sheppard's book and the one you posted originally... I use Sheppard's book constantly and highly recommend it. I think I have opened the other one a half dozen times in 10 years and honestly I dont recommend it. There is nothing in that first book you couldn't get from the FSM.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but did you check that the lifter oiling rings don't pop out past the top of the lifter bores or have the block bushed to deal with that? I know my 340 block could not run a HRL with .570 lift in stock form.
