    60 Valiant fuel tank resto

After a few years of being able to do jack all , was finally able to drop the tank a few weeks ago and see what the damage is. Have had this car for about 3 years now and haven't been able to make much progress until very recently. The undercarriage has been caked in mud - gas tank included...

    Roths 60' Valiant resto

Haven't been able to update for a while, so here goes. The engine would not turn over for us. Wanted to, but fuel was not making it into the engine and we also ended up damaging the water pump and/or possibly a gasket and are leaking coolant. Without an engine stand or hoist, and just getting...

    Roths 60' Valiant resto

Thanks Hyper! Have been working underneath to clear away that caked on mud, which is loads of fun with just a paint scraper and wire brush. Made some good progress on the passenger side at least, and found one rust hole. Not too bad, the metal around it wasn't soft so it will probably be...

    how many here from MN

Lurking around Fridley, MN. Working on a resto 60 Valiant and eagerly waiting for Mopars in the Park.

    Roths 60' Valiant resto

I'm hoping it'll just be some minor things, if it comes to it. Already plan on swiping the locks since the ignition and doors are the same and the darn things are hard enough to find. Never hurts to have an extra set lying around. Though in a perfect world, I'd love to buy the 62' and fix it up...

    Roths 60' Valiant resto

Was pretty happy with its condition overall, the pictures they'd posted online captured things really well. Haven't come across too many early Valiants in this neck of the woods and was rather excited to find this one not too far out of MN. Helped that the dealers were really nice guys to work...

    Roths 60' Valiant resto

Have been searching for a few years for a god project car to restore, and finally came across this beast after coming to terms with the fact I did not have the space to restore my first choice in vehicles; though someday I'll get a Travelall regardless. Until then, this car is going to be a...

    Key/Lock compatability

Sadly that one is for a newer Valiant, the 60-62 are different and more of a pain. Did manage to figure it out this evening and am eagerly waiting for keys now that the ignition cylinder is out. Attached is a pic for the headlight switch this one has. Thanks for the assistance though!

    Key/Lock compatability

Unfortunately I find myself running into the issue of removing the dash plate to get to the ignition cylinder, more specifically getting that headlight switch to disengage. I'm fairly certain the depression button is at the top, same as the 62, but just cannot seem to find it. Anyone have any...

    Key/Lock compatability

I've found a few individuals who can/will do it, one is reasonably priced that I'll be visiting this week. Others wanted to charge $125+ - which is just a wee bit spendy for keys. Thanks all!

    Key/Lock compatability

Just notice that not too long ago, interesting since some have labeled these sets with 63-66 67 68. I know a 60-64 (maybe 65?) would work, but don't seem all that common for NOS or reproduction. Such a bummer. Thanks for the confirmation Tim!

    Key/Lock compatability

Working on a 60' project Valiant sitting in the garage, and am having a tough time finding anyone in the area who could make keys for all the locks - sadly ours came with none. I'm not too concerned about the trunk right now, but do want to get the ignition and door locks replaced since it...

    Well hello out there

Ah! Makes more sense that way (multitasking - great way to misinterpret). Thanks!

    Well hello out there

Nah, 225 slant 6. This car was basically a barn find, sitting around for many years and doesn't look like it has had much changed or added to it.

    Well hello out there

Thanks! Not too far away either, just moved to Fridley.

    Well hello out there

Agreed! Already in love with this car, and quite a fan of your Lancer too!

    Well hello out there

Glad to have found a place like this. Recently acquired a 60 Valiant that will be my first restoration project, and am very much looking forward to getting this guy clean up and running (which will be a little easier once I have all the keys and /or locks replaced). For now, a few pics!
