Hi,My old 70 swinger had factory air with the chrome vents under the dash. I recently got another 70 swinger but this one has the later style plastic vents under the dash. Did Chrylser switch mid year to plastic vents? I know that by 71 they were all plastic vents.

Is it true the reason chrysler pushed the vinyl roof was because it was easier/cheaper to slap a vinyl roof on the darts than do the bodywork over the roof seam? Several guys have told me that.

I think you are likely right that cost played a part in it rather than safety because lots of later model cars used the old flush mounted side markers,even into the 1980's,like the third generation firebirds and Camaros,so it couldn't have been a safety thing.
