If you look at the pics I think it shows the sway bar. Looks like a pretty authentic car but the OP would have to confirm the matching core support numbers. I paid a fair amount for an all original '65 Dart Hurst 4 speed 273 Charger with Sure Grip. Had an engine fire, but I have it running...

The stamp on the core support will partially match both the fender tag and vin tag. That will tell you for sure.

The only way to tell if the engine is a Commando is the scope the bore and look at the pistons. Commando pistons have semi dome and 2 reliefs and standard pistons have flat top and 4 valve unidirectional reliefs.

I was just after you and many friends from Del who came to Acalanes after the closure. Many weekends cruising The Main. Many friends still there as well, many who were fortunate enough to inherit their parents homes and tax basis.

Yeah, I was one of those high schools kids (Dons) in my loud and fun '65 Mustang that my dad helped me build. But back then it was soooo different (almost rural) than it is today (more like the Midwest where I live now). Hard to imagine someone would target such a specific part for your '65.

I've put mine back together stock. I don't have any pics at the moment, but here is my current progress. Almost ready to put the windshield and back glass back in.

And apparently the Dad didn't have any regrets selling the car back when he did. Seems it wasn't important enough to any of them back then for the Dad you give or sell it to them at a discount family price. Just seems fishy to me.
