    Can anyone ID this BMW?

This car was trespassing on my property, trying the doors. The 3 individuals tried to hide their faces from the cameras. It might help to catch these scumbags if i was able to give the police the model & year. It had no plates, front or rear.

This is how you design a valve cover

I don't know if you can make it out, but the outside(bottom) edge of the v. cover has a really clever "drip edge" molded into the cover. This is what I've always thought old stamped steel v. covers should have had years ago. Also included is a pic of Lt head valve train. Amazingly clean. Car has...

    Oil filter magnets, pics

I cut open my wix #57899, which was on my 09 Charger, today. If there was any doubt in your minds about whether those FilterMags work, check out the pics. The vertical stripes on the inside wall of the metal can are basically iron "dust". At the time, last year, and a couple of thousand miles...

    3rd gen HEMI rocker shafts

So I've been working on my 09 Charger because a few issues have cropped up, lately. Among other things, I was considering pulling the valve covers to have a look-see. I got to wondering about the rocker shaft(s) orientation, especially after what happened to my 340 6bbl, when I took it in for...

    what the hell?!

ok, I've lived in the Seattle area for virtually my whole life, and I've never seen anything like this. It was 100, yesterday. It's predicted to be 110, today, 112, tomorrow. It would be very unusual to have one 100 degree day. Very, very unusual for it to happen in June. But, three days in a...

    starter questions

I have an 09 Charger Police 5.7L with a starter issue. When cold, when you hit the key, the starter cranks normally and the engine fires off immediately. But when fully hot, if you step away from the car for 15mins, and go to restart it, the starter will crank really, really slow. Surprisingly...

    are 47re autos weak?

47re's are mostly just 3spd 727, with an extra planetary hung off the back of the case, right? So why do they have the reputation as being weak? I mean I don't remember people complaining about weakness when 727's were behind 440's, or Hemi's, which weren't slouches. So why are the 47re's...

recommendation for spk plugs 02 ram w/360

whoops! double posted It's time for new plugs for my 02 Ram 2500 with a 360. I bought it "used" about a year ago, and it is rock-stock and in pretty good shape, especially for its age. It has about 140k miles. It has been running just fine, up until the other day, when it was quite slow to...

Sorry, if this is the wrong location to post. I tried to search for the original posting I saw a couple weeks back, but had no luck. Anyway, just wanted to follow up on the post about "Filter1". 09 charger 5.7 police 2nd impression

I bought an ex-cop 09 charger a couple of months ago, and I thought I'd share some 2nd impressions. The car has 147k miles on it, but the engine runs STRONG. The body is extremely rigid, the suspension is taut. Interior noise is low, and there are no squeaks or rattles in spite of the miles. The...

    first impressions, 09 Hemi Charger

yeah, it's an ex-cop car. yeah, it's got a HEMI. And yeah, it goes like stink! My son drove it 100 miles, back from where we bought it , and at first it was funny how no one wanted to pass him, but then it just became annoying because you couldn't change lanes because there were cars just...

    rocker arm tip dressing

Awhile back, somebody brought up the subject of dressing the tips of rocker arms. I offered the advice to use the rocker arm accessory device on a valve grinder. I don't remember who specifically asked, but it was a name I've seen on many threads. Anyway, they wanted to see what it looks like...

62 granatelli Plymouth at flying mile

Not an a-body subject, but my late friend owned a (supercharged?)62 Plymouth (possibly a 62 Dodge), that he claimed was raced on the flying mile by the Granatelli bros. on the sand at Daytona Beach. He claimed it was the winner. Back then, you had to drive up the beach and then back, and they...

looking for a decent crankshaft turning tool

Oh. my. gawd! How many Chevy crankshaft turning tools are needed out there. There are literally hundreds for sale. I've only found one for a mopar, some goofy looking ProForm tool which has a pretty scathing review. Does anybody know a manufacturer and part number for a simple, steel crank...

    Am I color blind?

OK, I bought a dash mat for my 02 Ram pickup from CarCover USA. My truck has dark gray interior. So I ordered a "charcoal" colored dashmat, over a black one, because I thought the contrast might be too stark. Anyway, they sent me a light gray cover with dark gray edge basting. The light gray...

    curious, anybody run into this?

Not an A-body issue. I bought a used 02 ram 2500 w/5.9L Magnum engine, 118k miles. The engine oil dipstick has a "twist" built into the last 5/8in of the dipstick, and on this last 1/2in of the stick, there is this "coating". It is very thin, looks kinda "charcoal" black in color and texture. I...

    727 pan and gasket

I don't know if this has already been covered, but I was changing out the auto trans(518) fluid and filter on my new (to me) 02 ram 2500 2wd 5.9L Magnum, today. I was (pleasantly)surprised that the trans pan appears to be about an inch deeper than the old, traditional 727 pan that I was...

is there a factory 6qt oil pan for 5.9L

I have a 2nd Gen 02 ram 2500 2wd pickup. The oil capacity is only 4.7qts with the std shorty filter. By putting a wix 51515 (long)filter on it I can expand capacity to 5qts. I want to know if there is oem 5.9L magnum 6qt oil pan(& pickup) that was ever made, which will fit my truck.

P1740 code on 02 ram, help?

I just acquired an 02 ram 2500 with a 5.9L Magnum, and 46re auto trans. It has a check engine light on, and the code is P1740. If I interpret it correctly, the code means that the torque converter clutch lacks parity, which I am guessing means that when the converter is supposed to lock up...

    will wix 51515 physically fit?

I'm picking up an 02 ram 2500 2wd with a 5.9L Magnum engine, auto trans, and AC. I bought it on an auction. The oil is pretty dirty looking, so I wanted to change the oil and the oil filter, before I drive it 50 miles home. According to the Internet, it is supposed to take a wix 51085 filter...

there is a 1957 HD metal lathe for sale on auction in West Virginia. It is a Monarch brand lathe, which is a top-notch HD lathe. It has a lot of extra tooling, too. If I didn't live 3000 miles away I'd be bidding on it myself. Monarch Series 61 Engine Lathe - govdeals.com

    grease fitting unplugging tool

I actually bought this to unplug the oiling fittings on a used mill I'm trying to repair. I saw it advertised online, it's an IPA #7862. it says it's made in USA, and I tend to believe it because it's machined out of solid steel, with really nice, clean-cut knurling on the body. You pull out the...

    good price on extension cords

I just was shopping HD extension cords. At HoDepo, for a really nice Ridgid 50ft 12/3 cord with lighted ends, it's about $48. I was at Costco the other day, and they had TWO 50ft 12/3 cords w/lighted ends for $39.99! While I'm at it, I might add that while I was at Costco, they had a gallon of...
