US and CA heater core differences?

Excellent data, thanks a bunch! I know it was a funny question, but I figured that if I'm going to change it, I might as well go with a warmer option.

Yup, been looking. There is a lot of speculation and noise, but I have yet to find my answer - so I posted.

US and CA heater core differences?

Are there any differences in heater core designs made for the US vs. Canadian markets, say for a 1968 Barracuda?

    OE Driveshaft for a 7.25 > 8.25 A-body /6 swap

Is there an OE driveshaft that will drop-in for a factory 7.25 > 8.25 (donor is a 1974 Dart) differential swap in a '68 Barracuda, /6 with a 904? Also, any PNs for U-joint recommendations? I will be using a carrier out of a '91 Jeep to bolt up a 3.23 R&P. Any recommendations, warnings, or...

    Long-Rod Slant-6 - my build

Right...? From what I understand, the Pentastar was used from 1962 until (around) the mid '70s and only appeared on the lower passenger side fender throughout Chrysler's product line. And yes, it was also used on individual parts as well. The use of a symbol for brand identification was a...

    Long-Rod Slant-6 - my build

@my68barracuda Sept 25 is just crazy! I'd be interested in the seatbelt info - no rush, I'll start wrapping my head around it though.

    Long-Rod Slant-6 - my build

John, good call about the Pentastar, Mr. Eagle Eyes! It was on the car when I got it. My production date is September 25, 1967 and I suspect I may have '67 fender(s). My car did not have shoulder belts, and I'm not sure if the mount is there - I've tried to feel for it before. I do have '67...

    Long-Rod Slant-6 - my build

Thanks for the kind words. There are over 300 pics chronologizing the build (of all things) on my Instagram page @csheehy_cuda68 You can see some of them even without having an account - and all of them if you have an Instagram account. If you have a specific curiosity though, let me know and...

    Long-Rod Slant-6 - my build

Having learned from so many of you here (and on .org), I felt obligated to share how things worked out with my long-rod build. The original writeup can be found HERE. Sound-clip HERE. This long-rod 225 slant-6 rebuild (now @ 231 CID & 3.8L) uses the 198 engine connecting rods to facilitate the...

    [WANTED] Slant-6 Engine Oil Dipstick

Looking for a slant-6 engine oil dipstick, it should be about 12-2/8" in length (or so) from the bottom of the handle (bulge) to the tip. I don't need the tube. The sealing-collar below the handle broke off mine, so it can't sit inside the tube now...

Piston 0.007 past deck height with 198 rods. Go/No-Go?

You could be correct... For me though, it works. I've got a 3.445" bore, so if your dimensions are accurate, that's right in my ballpark. And dropping a bit of compression, put me exactly where I wanted to be, which is 9.8. For me, it's a perfect fit...

Piston 0.007 past deck height with 198 rods. Go/No-Go?

Thanks for all the info everyone! Here's where I ended up... I bought the last two Aussiespeed big-bore cylinder head gaskets (AS0193) in the US (sorry folks) which come in at 0.055" compressed; leaving a confirmable safety margin. The pistons do have reliefs for the oversized (Ford 289)...

Piston 0.007 past deck height with 198 rods. Go/No-Go?

I've got a 225 with 198 rods and Wiseco PTS536A45 pistons at 3.445" bore - the head and block were just kissed for gasket sealing... I'm using AussieSpeed's Big Bore gasket that has a 0.060" thickness on the gasket and 0.070 on the ring. My piston is projecting 0.007" past the block deck. Is...

Purolator & Wix will not warranty standpipe oil filters for /6 but Baldwin will.

The post is about oil filter types that have an integral standpipe - and which manufacturers back them for use on the slant-6. There is no contesting of the validity of the oil-pump-mounted standpipe going on here.

Purolator & Wix will not warranty standpipe oil filters for /6 but Baldwin will.

Mann, Wix, and Purolator are all saying they do not have a filter with a standpipe that is recommended for the slant. This is only a concern if, say, you change your oil pump and do not have a replacement standpipe on the new pump. I have an NOS oil pump which did not include the standpipe -...

Purolator & Wix will not warranty standpipe oil filters for /6 but Baldwin will.

Someone over at slantsix.org questioned the validity of anyone submitting a warranty claim for a failed oil filter. Solid point indeed! Here's my response... "Yup - I owned an insurance adjusting company years ago and recall several mechanical failure claims where oil filters failed (seal...

Purolator & Wix will not warranty standpipe oil filters for /6 but Baldwin will.

Just heads up - I had the following exchange today with Mann+Hummel (below) who owns Mann, Purolator, and Wix brand filters. I was looking for their best filter for my slant that had a standpipe - since I'm not using an oil pump that has the standpipe attached. In short, Mann (Wix & Purolator)...

    Slant-6 Flexplate with 3/8" bolts?

Does anyone have a part number for a flexplate that uses 3/8" bolts for a slant-6 904? I considered drilling mine to enlarge the hole, I don't think there's enough meat there to work safely.

    Recommendations for trans fluid??

@Scody21 I'm thinking a lot like you, chemical & friction properties have changed significantly over the years, and I also am looking for the best fluid for my transmission overhaul investment. Rusty Machinists Tools

Also a supporter of Evapo-Rust. I'd rinse & dry well; then follow up with a wiped-down of ATF or MMO on a rag. Just so you know, HSS will likely get really dark in color (maybe even black) in Evapo-Rust. No harm, but just FYI.
