Any truth to the practice of BLACK painted parts dissipating heat better?

As an old physicist I recall that black is the best at dissipating (radiating) infrared which is what the engine produces (see Black Body radiation). The best absorber is also the best radiator.

    Very embarassing question

Thank you all gentlemen for your advice. After shooting some KROIL (wonderful stuff) into the insulator and letting it sit overnight, one pull by hand is all it took. Sometimes all you need is somebody to tell you it's doable and you wont break anything. Thanks again SC

    Very embarassing question

Not sure I understand how it's going to "pop" 1/4 in. You mean off the far (open) end of the bend ? There's not a lot of play on the rod, I thought the carb would slide off toward the engine. Sorry if I'm being a bonehead.

    Very embarassing question

I'm sorry, ignore the spring, it's actually off, it's a misleading picture. The spring is actually laying loose it's not attached to the linkage right now. It was attached to the other end. Maybe if I use some WD-40 the linkage can slip off the insulator ?

    Very embarassing question

1920 Holley on a 1966 slant six. First time I attempted to pull it off. I foolishly assumed the (gas pedal) throttle linkage would slide off the rubber gromet. Any suggestions before I break anything ? Thanks SC

    mopar radio questions

In my experience indoor antenna gives good results only on FM. For the AM you may get one station and that's about it. I did not have an antenna hole so I used one of those magnetic base antennas used for some trucks and ran the wire through the crack between the door and the fender. Works great...

    Factory Radio Wiring

I'm sorry to disagree but it does matter to the quality of the sound. You are driving a magnet 180 degrees out of phase.

    Factory Radio Wiring

If you find an old speaker yes. If you get a regular generic 8 ohm speaker then the green goes to + and the black to - on the speaker leads. You can find the male/female connectors at any store, even auto parts stores and make your own connectors. Remember these were mono radios back then. You...

    Factory Radio Wiring

Black wire goes to the negative connector on the speaker itself. In other words the two wires both go the speaker. I know I scratched my head too for a bit.

    Radio suggestions ?

Don't rightly remember now, probably super glue. But it's been working fine. I actually cut out two round pieces of sandpaper the size of the clutch disks, glued them together with the sand paper sides out, cut out a thin "pie slice" slit to clear the shaft and inserted the result and glued it...

    Radio suggestions ?

I solved that problem by inserting a piece of sandpaper (delicately) between the round clutch disks and gluing it on. It's working fine so far.

Do me a favor and send a picture of all sides. Is this the capacitor you know is blown ?
