3500rpm with 2.76 gears sounds about right for first gear in a 904. is it shifting? jack up the rear end of the car, and find out how many turns of the drive shaft = 1 turn of the wheels. (multiply times 2 if no suregrip) to find out how what kind of gears you've got..

don't forget that the .10/.20 is for for when it's warmed up, if you're adjusting it cold, better to use the .13 / .23 numbers given, and recheck while it's running.

I wish I had a definite answer for you, but I don't... :) It sounds like there are multiple problems, as for why your car won't idle... it could be your timing is off, it could be a clogged fuel filter, it could be your carburetor has gunk in it, or that your idle is set too low, large...

I had a similar problem this week, it turned out to be a bad oil filter... only had the thing a week... it was a pure one filter, which I heard are supposed to be good... put a wix on today and the problem went away. probably a long shot, but worth trying anyway? -j

careful... if you weld up 1/4 of the slot, you will be reducing the amount of advance by more than 25%.. you have to take in account that the pin in the slot takes up room in the slot. you have to weld up the length of the slot minus the length of the pin, and take 1/4 of that... -j
