    I would take the heads back off, and make sure all of the coolant passages were machine out. I have bought new Edelbrock products missing required tapped holes. Just a thought.

    timing problem

    Three things to check. 1. Older harmonic balancers tend to slip, make sure the timing mark is on TDC 2. Does the new ignition require a ballast resistor or not? 3. Some of the timing lights have adjustable advance, not sure why, if so adjust to zero.
