    Potential Cam Failiure?

Unfortunately, my dial indicator is at home, so I won't have it until I am home for Thanksgiving.

    Potential Cam Failiure?

Not that I can see, but it is hard to tell.

    Potential Cam Failiure?

I've got a 360 that when built, the machine shop had the exhaust valve guides too tight. During cam break in, it hung an exhaust valve, and bent a few push rods on the exhaust. I put a different set of heads on the motor, and ran it, because the lifters looked OK at that time. The car was then...

    MSD Pro-Billet with HEI

I have a MSD Pro-Billet distributor, but no CDI box. I see no reason I couldn't go pick up an 4 pin HEI module and use the magnetic pick-up in the Pro-Billet to trigger it. I've searched quite a bit, and can't find anybody who has ever done that, however. Would that set-up work okay?

[Found!] Need a Set of 8 3/4 or 8 1/4 Shock Plates in Phoenix.

I need a set of shock plates for my car. I really want to get the car back together before I head back to school, and this is the last part I need. Hoping to find some in Phoenix, because I will be cutting it close with shipping.

    Lap Belts NHRA Tech Inspection

I have a '73 Dart that when purchased, did not have any seat belts in the car. A few years ago, I went to O'Reilly's, bought a set of lap belts, and bolted them to the factory seat belt mounts. Will this pass tech at an NHRA track? I'm getting the car ready to run in January, and I don't want to...

    Help with Backfire

He thought maybe there was coil bind. I just bolted a head back on however, and there was about .101" in between each coil. The lifters did leak down, so that would be less with it running, but I can't believe it would be enough to cause coil bind.

    Help with Backfire

That's a great question, I just got off the phone with Hughes and their tech guy said the only thing he could think of is the retainers were too thick. I just don't see how that would tie into the broken valve. I suppose they could be two isolated issues as well.

    Help with Backfire

I got the engine out and apart today. I have 7 bent exhaust pushrods, and 1 bent intake. The valve that broke hit a piston. Attached is a picture. Can I get away with running this piston?

.020 were milled off the heads. I did install new valve springs.

    Help with Backfire

None that I can see. Although the one with the broken rocker, and the broken valve are two different valves.

    Help with Backfire

Well, now I've got a new problem. I got a new set of rockers at the junkyard, pull the old ones off, and the exhaust valve right next to it is broken off. half the stem is still in the retainer, and the other is in the head. I tried moving it and it is real right. The machine shop just went...

    Help with Backfire

I think you may be the winner. I just pulled the valve covers and I punched through the number 3 exhaust rocker.

    Help with Backfire

I used a new Comp double roller timing set, the heads were milled, then the valves were ground, and new guides were installed. I'm using the stock stamped rockers. I completely slathered the cam with the lube it came with, and also put a blob on the bottom of the lifter.

    Help with Backfire

Okay. I figure a flat lobe wouldn't move the rocker, or at least not as much so that should be a good clue.

    Help with Backfire

I fired it up with break in oil and a bottle of moly additive, and ran it between 1500 and 3000 for 25 min. Shut it off, let it cool, then called it a day.

    Help with Backfire

If I were to stab a new cam in it, is there anything I can try to do make it safer? I was thinking a strong magnet on the drain plug, and then priming the pump for a good long time with clean oil, then repeating.

    Help with Backfire

In the event it is a flat lobe, am I okay to just stab another cam in there, and flush some clean oil through it a few times?

To isolate the cylinder, do I just start pulling plug wires?

[FOR FREE] Free Slant 6 and 904 in Phoenix.

I've got a 225 Slant, and a matching 904 out of my 73 Dart. I just need it out of my backyard. Both were running when I pulled them in September. The engine smokes a bit and has a ton of blowby, so I'd suggest a rebuild, but like I said, it does run okay, and even passed emissions last year.

    Help with Backfire

I just built a 360 for my Dart. Its basically a stock rebuild with a Hughes Whiplash, a Weiand action plus, and a Brawler 670 carb. I broke in the cam, then started the engine a few other times and everything was good. Today, I went for a short drive, and when I was pulling into my driveway, it...

    1973 Dart Sport side glass....

If you need a '73 Dart Sport drivers window, I've got one. I figured that out when buying door glass actually. I found out there is no interchange outside of '73 the hard way.
