Fall Fling 25 Oct 23, 2021 Van Nuys CA -info & roll call

Update on my GTS conv lower windshield molding. Found a stainless at the spring fling swap meet, trimmed an inch off each end, excessively polished it and installed it with plenty of butyl. Worked out great and much cheaper than $275.00 for the acrylic version. Thanks for everyone's input.

Fall Fling 25 Oct 23, 2021 Van Nuys CA -info & roll call

Wow! I've must have owned seven or eight 67 - 69 darts (2 convs) and never new that or had a reason to, I guess. The original windshield was destroyed in transit from mich to ca in 81 and the repair shop must have destroyed the plastic one. I didn't think much about it then. I was just excited...

Fall Fling 25 Oct 23, 2021 Van Nuys CA -info & roll call

That was a fun event and your video was great! My orange GTS conv "crawled out of the woodwork" to make it in the video. It's missing the lower windshield molding and was curious if anyone had one. I'll also post a wanted ad for it. Met some great folks there.

    power steering gear removal

An update for those interested: I was able to remove the steering gear from the top side. Raised the left side of the engine one inch, removed the front header pipe, removed the remaining header bolts and had just enough clearance to get it out. Didn't have to remove the header, starter, center...

    power steering gear removal

Ref 68 GTS: I'll ask the off the wall question: Has anyone pulled a steering gear from the front side. I am not thrilled with dropping the starter, center link, clutch pivot arm or header. My hooker header has a slip tube for the front pipe and it will come out if I raise the block. I'm...

power steering gear box housing head

Sorry for late post. I haven't been on the site in awhile. I actually took it to a friend, who weld repaired it and also machined it to the correct dia. Just got lucky.

power steering gear box housing head

That's a good idea. I don't expect too many members to have them laying around. Thanks, Steve

power steering gear box housing head

Update: I was able to remove the damaged housing head while on the vehicle. Does anyone have one? It holds the input shaft bearing and oil seal. See attached pic. Thanks in advance, Steve

power steering gear box housing head

Ref 68 gts: When I removed the leaky input shaft seal I damaged the housing that holds the first bearing. First question: if I removed the slotted cyl but that holds the housing in place, will this allow me to remove just the housing head without the whole assy coming out or will springs...

    master cylinder push rod

Greg, thanks for the cleaned up push rod and bolt. Finally got it installed. Hopefully, just a brake system bleed and all will be good. Thanks again. Steve

    master cylinder push rod

Greg, that master cylinder p/n I listed is a disc brake master cylinder, so I should be good there. You pull the part and I'll buy it. Thanks, Steve BTW: thanks to everyone's responses. Looks like this site is a great resource! Much appreciated.

    master cylinder push rod

Greg, I'd be interested in purchasing the push rod you have. Because I'm reverting back to non-power assist, I hope that the push rod is all I need. It's been long time since I converted it and I'm not sure if the ball end of the push rod is secured in any way or is it just a pilot fit into the...

    master cylinder push rod

Rumblefish, I saw multiple options for an adjustable push rod, but I'm opting for the one piece design, if it is available. Thanks, steve

    master cylinder push rod

First time poster here. I'm resurrecting my 68 GTS after quite a few years of down time. During my initial build, I changed out the drums to power discs. Unfortunately that combo didn't work with a high lift cam. From what I've read the master cylinder I installed will still work for manual...
