    [FOR SALE] 360 spreadbore intake

Would I have any problems mounting this to a 318 on a 1970 car? I don't know exactly what year EGR came out (And presumably a swapped block would not have kept the stock BBD carb...)

What mileage does your slant six powered ride get?

Yeah, I'd like to but I've nowhere to go that is far enough! I'd like to do the same for the Coronet for that matter ... (318, but still a 2.7X rear and I get 12.5 to 16 for the same work commute as the Valiant's 13-15. But I've never had a chance to do a long, highway trip with that car) I...

What mileage does your slant six powered ride get?

My Valiant averages about 14mpg overall, since I daily it, and unfortunately my commute is not exactly highway....yes , technically they're all 55 or 65 mph roads, but they're only like 4 minutes each. The most I have ever gotten was 21, if I drive on the interstate for the whole tank. When I...

    1971 Valiant

Bought this car in October '16. Did so because it's the same car as in a certain movie, though mine is unfortunately not red. 225 /6 (2v conversion) With A904 and 2.76 rear. It is a factory AC car, but someone has removed all the engine bay components other than the vacuum reservoir. My daily...

    [FOR SALE] A-body A833-OD

For sale is an A833 4 speed overdrive unit. I was going to swap this into the Valiant, but after buying the Coronet, I decided to leave the Valiant as it was. It was rebuilt as the date shows, and does not seem to have been used since. One oddity though, 2 or so bolts don't want to thread in...

Questions on a Swap Before Any Serious Considerations

Any recommended places to look? Or is it more "find one off an existing car and change internals as needed"?

Questions on a Swap Before Any Serious Considerations

Yeah, I thought I'd need some sort of adapters

Questions on a Swap Before Any Serious Considerations

Well it doesn't have to be some huge performance thing, I'd still want it capable of daily drive if needed

Questions on a Swap Before Any Serious Considerations

Right, right. A 318 with narrow primaries carb would probably get better milage than the 6 on a light throttle anyway
  10. PanzerschreckLeopard

Questions on a Swap Before Any Serious Considerations

Eh, 318 would work too. 340 seems far too expensive and rare.

Questions on a Swap Before Any Serious Considerations

Right, right. I figured it shouldn't be TOO difficult considering the Duster exists with those options, but I wanted to be sure.

Questions on a Swap Before Any Serious Considerations

I've already put disc brakes on the front, with booster.

Questions on a Swap Before Any Serious Considerations

Hey! I have a '71 Valiant, with a /6 and A-904 transmission. It is currently not my daily driver, especially with Winter approaching, so I was wondering about the feasibility and work for a swap... What I was wanting was some sort of LA block (I suppose a 360?), and just as importantly, if not...

Unsure which new Carb to pick

Vac advance hose is only a few weeks old (was missing completely before that) Whether the rest of it works, I'm not sure, I'll have to check.

Unsure which new Carb to pick

I ended up getting the Motorcraft 2150 1.08 that SlantSixDan suggested. In addition to fixing some recent suspension issues (still a few things I need to replace but the worst part is done), the carb does work better than the old one, but with one issue--a hesitation like the old one when under...

    Odd Suspension Issues

When I said "looked good" I meant the little plate it threads into, not the lever, I'm going to try and fix that soon. But if you really insist I replace the bolt and threaded plate, then I will. And I'm getting the other components looked at tomorrow.... Edit: I see you WERE referring to the...

    Odd Suspension Issues

I see. The threads of both the bolt and the plate didn't seem damaged, everything turned easily.

    Odd Suspension Issues

I'll see if one of the guys at work might be able to weld it, and Saturday I'll take it to have the suspension inspected.

    Odd Suspension Issues

What's the name of this lever? All I can find are control arms and ball joints. Or is it totally integrated?

    Odd Suspension Issues

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if *I* had done that during the disc brake conversion in January, cause until now I didn't know it wasn't anchored into the part it's pushing on. I kinda just loosened it until I could lift the arm up and down, so it likely shifted then. So, I've removed thew...

    Odd Suspension Issues

Is there any chance that it moved to wrong position while jacked up and unloaded, and it wasn't noticed?
  22. PanzerschreckLeopard

    Odd Suspension Issues

I know I know...I'd just have to find a way to get to and from work in the meantime

    Odd Suspension Issues

Urgh I hope not, but I guess I'll have to look....

    Odd Suspension Issues

How much adjusting with weight would do that? I'd only done a few turns, and most times would jack it.
  25. PanzerschreckLeopard

    Odd Suspension Issues

I see.... I have made adjustments with weight on it before, too...

    Odd Suspension Issues

Gggh, ****, and this is my daily car, it's been like that since I got it in October....well, I'll find out tomorrow afternoon.

    Odd Suspension Issues

Ok, so how much work am I looking at? Swap out the bump stops and sway bar, but for the driver side torsion bolt, if I just jack up the car and loosen it, can I just knock it into correct position? Then set ride height and get alignment?
  28. PanzerschreckLeopard

    Odd Suspension Issues

71 Valiant. The sway bar was like that when I bought it, and its bolts never stay tight; I can't seem to find a pic of what the stock sway bar looks like when mounted, only aftermarkets. And although the disc brakes are of the 73+ style. Yeah, I did notice it was bottomed out....how much work is...

    The one in first pic?

    Odd Suspension Issues

Looking under my car, I've noticed things that seem rather off. Mostly, there's the fact that the torsion bar bolt is vertical on passenger side, but the driver side is at a nearly 45* angle. In addition, the camber seems uneven. Does adjusting the torsion bar bolt affect camber? Cause I've done...
