    Forum names explained.

Shenango is a river running through Western PA. The name comes from a native American village near the town where I grew up. My Dad and I fished many places on the river and I have photographed many areas from the head waters at the Pymatuning reservoir to the confluence with the Beaver River...

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

It's a shame the engine build wasn't a straight forward success but it is a success at this point. You have to understand this forum and all forums in general. When a problem is spotted, no mater how it turns out, some members will jump on it like a bulldog on a ham bone. Im sure the engine will...

Any Pontiac guys on here? Need insight.

I had a Tempest with a 400 in it. The water pump has a stamped sheet metal plate in it. That plate came loose in the one I had and sounded exactly like that. Í know you ran it without belts but the noise I heard in the video is what my Tempest sounded like with that loose plate. Jerry

    Trying to summon the motivation

I'm 73 real soon and can relate to all that has been posted here. When I parked the 66 in December I had a mental list of what I wanted to accomplish this winter. My garage is not heated so I plan my "car" days around my propane heater and the length of the job I want to do that day. I only work...

Scat procar seats ? Anyone running them?

My seats came with adjusters and I bought their universal mounts and bent them to fit my car. Wasn't a bad job at all. They do sell mounts that are designed for some cars but mine wasn't one of them.

Scat procar seats ? Anyone running them?

I put scat procar buckets in my 66 Belvedere. They are well made and comfortable. The front back track adjustment and the tilt adjustment both work smoothly. After 2 1/2 years of use, I have nothing bad to say about the model I bought. Jerry

    Harm's Carburetors

Also you can contact Lars Grimstad in Colorado. V8FASTCARS@msn.com Lars may also be retired but he has written several papers dealing with all aspects of rebuilding, tuning and evaluating the Q,JET. All of his carbs were tested and tuned on his shop engine before being sent back to the customer...

Life goes by fast- enjoy the small stuff

We lost our son to a heart atack a year and a half ago, he was 51. One moment he was washing his car in my driveway and the next he went down never to get up again. It's always a good sign to wake up on this side of the grass but you never know when it will be your last wake up. Enjoy the people...

Why do I ask myself why?

It takes me 1.75 hours to cut my grass and that is my alone with my thoughts time. So once a week I ponder the heck about life's little problems while no one is around to bother me. A couple of hours ago I built a fire and sat by my little river for a while. About 65 years ago my family would...

The Beaver Hole Hardwood Company Begins

This may be a little off topic but does anyone have information about the depression era hobo, A no.1 Traveler ? He supposedly stoled rides on railroads all across the US. There was a movie about some of his time in the North West called Emperor of the North Pole but nothing was mentioned about...

What If Build Ideas...for Land Speed Racing

From the Talladega records book. This would have been a 358cid probably Ford since it was Wallace doing the driving. Looks like a very well built small block paired with a great aero package is capable of getting the job done. June 10, 2004: Rusty Wallace, while testing a stock car without a...

    Question my wife asked

You are correct and I have removed my "big red x". The icons at the bottom of the posts are an easy way to express an opinion. The only icon that gets an additional response is the BRX. Maybe it should be removed or at least be changed to a little pink x. Maybe people wouldn't be so threatened...

    Question my wife asked

I don't recall agreeing or disagreeing with anything in this or any other thread. Although if you would think a little deeper into the subject the Earth has been orbiting the Sun and spinning on it's own axis for billions of years. It doesn't get any more perpetual than that. By the way, I don't...

    727 Transmission Pan torque

Hi Gator, Jerry from Saegertown here. I use 118 in lbs on my Belvedere and my Tempest with good results. The biggest thing is to make sure the holes in the flange are flat and tighten in steps. Are you working on something new? I thought your 71 was a 4 speed.

Merry Christmas to me!! Just ordered likely my last camera, Canon 5D MK IV

About 10 years ago I bought a 5Dmklll as a retirement present for myself. That camera and my Rebel T2i gave me range from hiking in the rain to creating good images for my camera club. A year and a half ago I decided to do the mirrorless thing and bought a used Canon R6 with a 24-105 kit lens...

whats everyone doing for car batteries these days??

Bought my 2012 Jeep Liberty in Feb 2013 with 5k on it. Still running the original battery although it is tired. Tested it with my hydrometer in March and 4 cells were 85% and the other 2 were 90%. I will change it before winter and probably get a Deka at a local dealer.

Need help for friend who is not going to be around long

Have you tried locking out the secondaries to see how it behaves on the primary side only? A BBC should run very well at 70+ on primary only. If it runs well on the primaries only your problem will be easier to diagnose. As others have said it may need a known good carb because commercially...

    Anyone seen this???

It's sad to see a beautiful classic Chebby destroyed just to prove a point. The safety of newer cars is infinitely better than those made in the 50's or 60's. Proving that fact is beyond stupid. Jerry

Hi Ozz. I am about an hour south of you. If you want an extra set of eyeballs and another timing light in your garage send me a pm with your contact info and I will plan a road trip. I need to visit Heritage for a couple jugs of vino pretty soon anyway and you would be on my way there. Jerry

Measuring, Cutting, and Fixing Terminals: Spark Plug Wires

I put new MSD Streetfire wires on my 70 Dart 340 yesterday and it went like this. Held all the wires up picked the longest and put it on 2. Next longest went to 1. next to 3 and the next to 4. The rest 6.8.5.7 are about the same run length so do what looks nice to you. Make SURE you run 5 and 7...

    70 dart 4-speed 340

While my 70 h-code 4 speed Swinger is not currently for sale I would think 25ish would be enough if I were to put it on the market. All you would have to do is fix a few paint bubbles and a noisey 3.23 gear set. The best part is you could drive it the rest of the summer and only put gas in it...

I know you can do what you want.......BUT

My rides are for sale all the time. I have small 4 sale signs on the dash with high but not ridiculous prices on them. My cars are very well maintained drivers and both are 10 footers or better. I don't really care if someone buys either of them but I will make a small profit when sold or I will...

    68 Charger RT

Thanks for backing me up guys. My skill set is all mechanical and I would have no problem changing the valve body in the trans even including swapping out the 727 for a 4 speed set up. When it comes to body work and paint I have no skills in that area what-so-ever. I would guess both rear...
