Is this Demon just junk or am I just junk at dealing with it?

Not meaning to overstep anyone. I agree it looks too tight Disconnecting that linkage and seeing if it comes back to fully closed will tell you if it needs adjustment. (I'd loosen it up anways) If that doesn't help the only idea I have left is taking the pump cam off and making sure it isn't...

Is this Demon just junk or am I just junk at dealing with it?

The op needs to post a clear full picture of the base plate from the bottom, just to make sure it doesn't have both the set screw underneath as well as the external adjuster.

Is this Demon just junk or am I just junk at dealing with it?

Thanks for the info. I read up on the power valve myth more. Wish I had of known that 35 years ago, when there was no Internet, and all you had was the holley tuning book. Why in world wouldn't holley rework that info on Web sites?

Is this Demon just junk or am I just junk at dealing with it?

What is your vaccuum at an idle in gear? The purple shaft 474 is getting to that range that it has enough duration that would cause lower vacuum especially in an automatic car. With that said, what power valve is in it? Power valves will hang open if its rating is to close to your idle vacuum...

    edelbrock 1405 problems

You've answered your own question. "Tested a 800 cfm edel and that pulled strong all the way" Edelbrock 1405 is good for a stock or slightly warmed 318. Way to small for your engine.

    71 Demon

Is there such a thing as a 71 demon with a 318 3speed standard Demon from the factory? I've seen slant with the 3 speed standard. Considering buying one that says numbers matching. Any input welcome. Thanks

    Dtm primer question.

I personally would never spray 2k high build primer on bare metal. Even if it says you can I wouldnt. You don't need to use both etching primer and epoxy. Its an either or thing. Depending on surface prep mostly. I tend to use epoxy more than etching primer on most projects because it acts as a...

    SLOWING down the rust monster..........

Painting over and sealing in any rust will only make the rust creep and spread faster. Oil spray is the only real way to slow the rust down, but I wouldn't use penetrating oil.

*Mopar Nats. in Columbus Ohio Aug. 9-12th 2018

That's the thing I like about the Nats. Checking out the weekend cruisers and drivers. Seeing a bunch of over restored trailer queen show cars gets boring.

It's been a few years since we've been to the Nats. What is the best most happening place to cruise? Brice Rd or out in heath?

    Front frame rails?

No worries. The only reason I know the differences is because my 65 has rotted frame rails and I bought rails from a 70 duster. For my car it isn't an issue because its just a regular Barracuda (just a driver). Might be a different story for a rare numbers matching collector car.

    Front frame rails?

Not entirely true either. They are interchangeable but if your restoring and need "correct" frame rails, there are differences between 63-66 and 67-74. The early ones only have one alignment hole at the bottom back of the rail (the later ones have two plus a slot between them) The later frame...

    No room!

First hand experience. High compression 440 auto, 391 gears at 70 mph used to get on the high side of the heat gauge with a fixed fan. Only change I made was installing a clutch fan and the heat went down to (normal) the same as idle and low speed cruising.

    No room!

Fixed fans are ok for idling or slow mph cruising. Not so good for high mph/rpm highway driving. At highway speeds the fixed fan can actually end up acting as a wall not letting airflow through the rad properly causing heat problems. I'd only use a fixed fan if it was a restored # matching show...

What to do with a 65 Valiant that won't sell

A couple of options. Believe it or not nobody is born knowing how to weld. Get a mig welder and practice on scrap metal until you get the knack of it and then weld up your floor holes. A 4 door valiant is a perfect car for first time hobby welders. The other option is to cut up and part the car...

Checking cam timing on assembled engine

It is possible to check cam timing but most likely a waste of time if you don't know the cam specs. The vacuum your getting is typical to a performance cam with long duration.

The main thing controlling your boost is your right foot. Racers do shake down test runs all the time without de-tuning.
