I replaced my pinion seal on my 742 case 8 3/4 rear end awhile back and it is leaking again. I took out a leather seal and replaced it with a new leather seal. Is there a better seal, or a trick I don’t know?

My old vacuum pump of 40+ years bit the dust. What should I buy to replace it? Amazon has single stage and two stage pumps? Do I need a two stage pump? Pretty reasonably priced, $75 - 200 for a good selection. I am a hobby hack, probably use it a few times a year.

Has anyone else had issues with batteries leaking? Some of mine leak in the package before they are even used. I read that they eliminated mercury & some other stuff, & what they use now out gasses. Are there any brands that don’t leak?
