[FOR SALE] 63-66 A pillar sections

Is the drip rail intact? Mine are missing so much metal in the bottom corners that its hard to see how these fit.

Modern Drivetrain Swap into '65 Valiant

I just wanted to show how I modified the Valiant's steering column to fit the Miata pedal assembly and steering linkage. Of everything I've done to the car, this was by far the most interesting bit of fab work. First I disassembled both the Valiant's and the Miata steering columns. Then I cut...

Modern Drivetrain Swap into '65 Valiant

I got after the interior fabrication a bit more and was able to finish the floors. Then I seam sealed the bottom of the car and sprayed epoxy primer on the interior raw steel. I patched a few exterior rust holes that will let water inside and cause future problems. I'm not too...

Modern Drivetrain Swap into '65 Valiant

Finally getting the energy to finish the interior sheet metal work. Really kicking myself for trying to save time by keeping the factory crossmember. I lost a couple inches of ground clearance and caused a lot of headaches for myself. Still, just want to move forward with the project. It is a...

Modern Drivetrain Swap into '65 Valiant

You're not guaranteed fitment because it's missing a couple cylinders. The biggest issue is likely to be fitting the drag link around the oil pan. Without fabricating a new link, that will probably determine where you'll set the motor.

    66 barracuda...going for a different look

Great looking fab work! Those hood louvres are an excellent idea.

    Eastwood contour drum sander

Yes, cleans paint and rust off tubes very quickly. You can get different grits for different materials and surfaces. Major time saver.

Modern Drivetrain Swap into '65 Valiant

I hadn't touched it in about six months until last week. Just been busy with other things. I built the firewall and cowl, but no other progress so far. Six months is plenty of time to regret your design choices, haha! If your car has good metal I would keep as much of it as you can! No...

Road Racing Duster 6.4 Hemi E85 6 speed Ms3 Pro Evo EFI

If you’re making all new brake lines, why bother with the stock distribution blocks? Why not just use an adjustable proportioning valve? You’ll need one anyway to really tune the brake and tire combo you end up with.

    71 Scamp Dangerous To Drive

You’re right. Rust that extensive could cause those problems. I just meant i wouldn’t put it at the top of the list, but it should definitely be checked as you pointed out.

    71 Scamp Dangerous To Drive

The driving issues are definitely in the front suspension not the rust problem. Others have listed pretty much everything to look for. Worn out lower control arm bushings could also be contributing to the problem. I would suspect a faulty alignment first but everything should be thoroughly...

    Hotchkis leaf springs

I used the stock hangers and shackles. Very happy with ride height. Using their provided shackles would have caused tire clearance issues and I would have been beating the headers against the ground after lowering the front to match. It still seemed slightly lower than stock.

    [FOR SALE] SBJ 10” Drums

Yes they are small bolt pattern. They came off of a ‘72, but they’ll fit earlier cars as well.

Modern Drivetrain Swap into '65 Valiant

Well the project is definitely turning into a lot more work than i had anticipated. Still, I’ve made some good progress! Made some budget choices with the frame design that I’m not completely sold on, but the new frame is in and square. I was able to toss in a mockup motor and trans and...

Any Interest in Road Racing Mopar?

I don’t know what kind of aero mods you’re allowed or are interested in, but the car would probably respond really well to a splitter and solid airdam to replace the airdam you currently have. Both cheaply made out of plywood and some flexible plastic or aluminum.

This is getting loads of attention clearly so how does a price drop sound? Free to you! It does have good brakes.

    LS Swap '65 Valiant

There are no kits that I know of. Like Rusty said, check out that thread for details. LS motors are cheap compared to other modern powerplants, but not compared to an small block! Wiring is comparatively simple, but again, way more complicated than a holley 4bbl. Transmission options are better...

    TIG weld a AL head?

Like others have said, you can definitely weld it as long as it is cleaned thoroughly. Any oil left in the casting will show in the weld. Note that the weld will generally be a little softer than the rest of the head, which shouldn’t be a problem for most engines.

[SOLD] Early A crossmember center section

For free! If you pick up. I can ship for $50 if you really need it. Is it valuable? No. Is it useful? Probably not. Is it free for you to get it? Yes!

[SOLD] Early A complete front suspension assembly

This is the front subframe assembly from a 1964 slant six car. Later small bolt 10” drums rebuilt and swapped on. Manual steering box. I’m located in Savannah, GA, and I can’t deliver unless you want to trade for a barracuda chassis. (Anybody?) I really don’t want to throw this stuff out. $250 OBO.

    Jeep 4.0 in 69 Barracuda

I’m excited for you! This sounds like it’s finally all coming together! And I’d like some feedback from someone actually rubbing a “truck” trans. Most people just skip that option since they’re not geared like a sports car but i don’t see why it wouldn’t be great on the street. I have the...

suggestions on repairing lower rear shock mounts

With a welder, anything is possible… unless you’re welding hardened bolts on, in which case the weld will actually destroy the temper of the steel.

Modern Drivetrain Swap into '65 Valiant

I understand how the interaction between the diff gearset and the trans gear ratios will change rpm at a given speed. Really i was asking about the mechanics of it. The sentence in bold seems important. A steeper rear will increase engine rpm at a faster rate. Is it this change in rate what...

Modern Drivetrain Swap into '65 Valiant

Lots of info, thanks! Years of searching the forum and I still don’t know this. I don’t fully understand, however. Driveshaft speed doesn’t change with respect to engine speed and throttle, since the trans ratios haven’t been changed. I would imagine that as long as I’m full throttle the...

Modern Drivetrain Swap into '65 Valiant

It does seem like you really have tried every combo! Do you work out the ratios ahead of time to figure out what you think will work or do you just break down combos you’ve already tried and like? What you’re saying about the lock up 3 speed having in effect as many gears as the 5 spd manual...

Modern Drivetrain Swap into '65 Valiant

We are long past that, haha, but I appreciate the breakdown nonetheless. I still have a lot to learn about how to make old combinations work, stuff that guys like you might take for granted. If the chassis had been in better shape, I probably would have liked to keep the slant and figure out a...
