Solve the puzzle? Draining converter with Magnum flex plate

Thanks AJ. My converter has a drain. I just can't get to it because the Magnum Flexplate blocks access.

    Another 904 trans ID

Is that date from the 0251 number? Date isn't making sense because the dude said he pulled it out of a Cordoba or Magnum. Unless it was a replacement transmission. In that case not sure about which converter is in there. What would low stall be from the factory? Any idea? Thanks

    Another 904 trans ID

I opened it up yesterday and from what I could see is that it had been rebuilt at some point and the band material looked good as well as all adjustments. What I didn't like is that when the converter is all the way back and you spin it with pressure on the pump, it makes a grinding noise...

Solve the puzzle? Draining converter with Magnum flex plate

Following up....since I had the pan off and the fluid was so cooked, I decided to pull the valve body and do a better inspection. Turns out the front band is toast. No material left on it. Rear band doesn't look much better. Not sure why both were so far out of adjustment. Gotta come out. I...

    Another 904 trans ID

Jumping/reviving this thread. I picked up what was listed as a 904 transmission. He said it was behind a Magnum or Cordoba. I knew it was a lock-up 998 or 999. Pretty sure it's a 1978 but the 10000 day code comes back as 1963. Would like to know date and which is it? 998 or 999? What does...

Solve the puzzle? Draining converter with Magnum flex plate

Thanks for the watchful eye. Those pics were before I installed the transmission. Converter weights were removed and flex plate installed in the correct orientation. I believe it was backwards in that picture. Been on the road for a couple of years now. All good.

Solve the puzzle? Draining converter with Magnum flex plate

Looks like the starter removal will not help. The problem is that the flex plate blocks the drain plug. See picture. I dont think it's a good idea to drill the flex plate. Would be difficult to find 180 degrees for second hole for balance plus debris. Then there is refilling the converter after...

Solve the puzzle? Draining converter with Magnum flex plate

So I was having some recent shifting issues with my 904 on 5.9 Magnum combo. Occasional 1-2 flare when getting on it and having to back off throttle to get 3rd. Only about 50 miles like this. Normal driving OK. I dropped the pan and had some wear sludge in it. Pulled the filter and the kickdown...

    Trans leak up front

Having the same issue but more of a drip. No puddle. Here's the thing, the trans 904 is now acting when I drive it hard. Having a 1-2 f!are up at times and occasionally have to back off throttle going into 3rd. Shifts OK when I drive it normally. Level is OK. Not sure of mileage but I've put...

Very Cool. He always preaches about our cars having the best engineering and being overbuilt in some cases. Not to mention Ma MoPar being on the forefront of innovation. A lot of firsts in the company's history.

Right on Jos. Also the Mopar Action website is still up. Lots of good stuff there. There was also a list of tech with date of publication but couldn't find it with a quick check. I have a collection of magazines Going back to early 90's. If anyone is looking for a specific feature/tech/article...

My personal sub is for 2 years and I am probably 9 months into it. The gifted sub was about 4 months in. I'm probably out $35. Nobody got any notice. Nothing can be done about it anyway. I look at it this way.....I got a lot of great Tech out of the magazine. Kind of like paying for a Gold...

Anybody deal with East Coast Mopar in Newark NJ?

Has anyone hear ever had dealings with East Coast Mopar in Newark NJ? The reason I ask is that I found them on Marketplace selling a modified and upgraded WC T5 transmission package specifically for SBM. They also do engine rebuilding and specialize in Mopars. I messaged the owner Fabio for...

Need advise on Sub frame connectors

I used a set from Mancini years ago but you can certainly make your own. Mine is a B body but I think the sub sections line up the same (offset). I welded mine in front and rear and they do not attach to the floors. Hard to see but the rear section boxes around the frame sections. Worked great.

    Swap pistons for quench?

I have read on this forum that some guys have used H116-CP's with good success without having to re-balance. I believe the weight difference is 4 grams lighter for .030 vs stock. May want to check with manufacturer. I have not used them myself......yet.

    Working out in the winter

I walk when the weather is good. Last year I started using a Total Gym (Chuck Norris, Christy Brinkley) during bad weather days. There are other brands like Gr8Flex and you can get them used pretty cheap. Find a better model with a tall foot rest and all attachments. Works great. Folds up...

How many using an A500 overdrive ?

What kind of HP can I expect to reliably put through an A500/42RH with a performance rebuild kit and not swapping HD components? Thinking around 400 but I would think torque plays into this as well. Can anyone recommend a good kit to go with? I currently have a good working 1995 42RH out of a...

    Advice on buying junkyard engines?

Obviously check the oil for level and presence of water or fuel. If you have access to a borescope i would check each cylinder for wear. Magnums are known for their low cylinder wear and you should still see cross hatching on a good one. Bring a plug wrench with you.
