I use a small-block T-bar(s) on my Hemi Dart. It's a bit jarring but bearable.

Weren't the wheels on the Darts, as shipped, have some sort of weird offset/part number? I vaguely recall something about early Dakota wheels being the same or similar.

Going back a few posts, IMO the WW trimimng on the "mule car" or any other S/S car is kind of meaningless. Why? Because per a former Hurst worker there was no real patternin the WW trimming. Oh, they had a template to follow but with one guy on either side of the car as they went down the line...

I don't get the difference between "components" and "parts"........but whatever. Many of the parts are still available and those that aren't can be made...i.e. seat brackets, delete plates, battery tray, etc. And I think most guys nowadays want to build a clone of some type as the originals are...

You're right. My guess is in '68 the engineers were simply trying to cram as much air in as possible. Also, IIRC, there was a height limit on scoops in the S/S class so that played into it too. I've seen a "lip" added to these scoops right in-line with the opening attached to the hood to "push"...

Chrysler did a lot of testing on the "mule car" Barracuda during development. When it was in private hands I had a chance to see some pics of it being developed & they tried IIRC, about 3 or 4 different designs. I love the scoop. But to be fair, it was later found out a "boundary layer" an inch...

IIRC, the majority were automatics. I spoke to a guy years ago that bought one new with a 4spd & he converted his too. I'd love a 4-spd, but then again & enjoyed my C/G, 4-spd Pinto--lots of power, not much wheelbase!:rofl:

From what I've seen & recall from several articles the Barracudas were not modified from Hurst. Now grant it, the "mule car", S&M, and several others may suggest they were but keep in mind these weren't "complete" cars when shipped & Mopar themselves told the buyers so. And a friend that worked...

Yeah. Actually the S/S "A100" seats are a bit narrower & have no welting along the seams. I got my upholstery from Legendary & did have to mention that. I was at a car show years ago where a well-known S/S 'cuda was on display. I mentioned these little quirks to the owner who said he never knew...

a lot of the parts on these cars were off-the-shelf items for a variety of things---- A100 (van) seats, these delete plates, the de-clutching unit for the fan, to name a few. So if one is careful enough, have the part numbers and is patient, one can find these "specialized" parts pretty easily.

....... And the Dart plates are similar but they have the grainy texture like the rest of the plastic on the dashboard.

DID they use the same plate? The A-body radio/heater delete plate was a one piece unit, not like what was on the Barracudas which was a single, simple rectangular plate.

Someone I knew hthat claimed to have worked at the Hurst factory said they had a guy on either side of the car, a template & sawzall and that was pretty much it. I've seen cars where the quarters weren't even on the same car which would account for the inconsistencies we all worry about here...

In theory, the radio/heater delete plate on the Darts could be had if you ordered a car without them. Practically speaking, that doesn't make sense for a street car. Anyone ever see one? Years ago my first delete plate I got from a junkyard in Tucson, Az. so I guess someone could have ordered a...

Note that it says at the top "Test Car Build-up", suggesting it was for the "Mule Car" only. Having never seen any other LO or BO car with them, I'd suspect them being used as a concept only seems valid.

MIne has steelies with cop car hubcaps. The hubcaps are , I think, from 1969 or so but the holes in them are for venting for the rotors---just like Mopar did for big cop brakes back then.

If it's a street driven car, keep the steel---saves money, more durable, easier to obtain & by the time you're done with the proper 'glass bracing you really aren't saving much weight. I've built 3 clones & while the 'glass is cool, those cars were too worrisome IMO.

Nope! Took it in for inspection during the build & the shop said it was perfect.

I don't recall the specs but the alignment shop had never seen a Hemi Dart before so my guess is they set it at 0. Do have his spec & a part number for those offset bushings?

My '68 Hemi Dart has an alum-headed Hemi in it. Nice overall but the steering is SO easy I can steer it with one finger sitting still. I expect SOME effort with that much motor on topof the suspension. Anyone else have this "issue"? It drives fine & all that. I'm just curious if I'm the only one.

Looking for an early Duster body--minimal rust, title-able driver or not. What you got?
