So.It was a number of different factors: Bad connections and grounds,bad ALT and blown VR. Finally got it fixed after 5 Bad Alternators and 3 VR's! Running prettty good now,thanks for all the help!

So. New Alternator and fresh battery. Still not getting up the the halfway mark on the Alt gauge,power drops when I turn on lights or put engine under load. Where to look now? I have to figure this thing out now! Ideas? This is my only vehicle and I have to get to work today. This sucks.

It's finally here after much waiting and many setbacks. My new 1965 Valiant 2-door with a 225 Super Six! I can't wait to start working on it! The 73 needs a bit more body work,paint and a few tweaks,then I can get to work on this one.

Cudaman, First off,thanks for the reply. I do have the color diagram,and I've been able to put it to good use many times over. But I'm not enough of a wiring guy to understand the way this guy managed it.I'll try to make a drawing of what he did,then maybe you can see what I mean. Thanks again,Dan

Can anyone draw me a simple diagram of what this should look like? I did the ammeter bypass a while back and someone else installed the elec. ignition. Now there are dead ended wires all over and I'm not sure if this was just sloppiness on the part of the other guy,or if there is something else...

If you're using new light assemblies and the pigtail wires are both black,try switching the connections. I spent daaaaays agonizing over this one! Look for the simplest solution first.Good luck.

David, I found a wide "S" shaped spring clip in the hardware drawer at my local auto pro that worked perfectly. You simply put them in the molding,turn it like a key and pop it into place. I'll try to get a picture of one or a part #.
