    727 Cooler Lines Help

5/16” is the line size, 1/8” is the pipe fitting size that goes in the transmission.

    360 push rod dilemma

I have a bunch of factory push rods, I can check if you want me to. I have used 5/16 and 3/8 diameter already. I have removed some out of 318 engines, that I thought were pretty skinny, but I haven’t measured them

    Camshaft Keyway direction

One way will be advanced, one way will be retarded. I would be best to check the centerline of the cam with a degree wheel. But I can tell you that all the cams that I checked, I have not retarded the cam to get the recommended or required position.

Sounds like another track may be closing

They had the race at Maple Grove, not as many faster cars than the New Year’s Eve race. The rain Friday and Saturday morning probably kept some from making the trip. They had a daily driver bracket class, couldn’t dial quicker than 10.00 in the 1/8 mi,no trailer towing and no burnout . Gave 2...

    Crank gear differences

My thoughts are that different timing chain manufacturers have different specifications for their timing chain sets. I do not mix up different gears and chains, learned that as a kid messing with dirt bikes. Always change the drive chain and gears as a set

    Front plate/ water pump question

I would like one of those timing covers! I run an engine plate that is cut out for a factory water pump, and use the Meizere back plate and electric water pump. My friend always borrows my backing plate for the dyno

    Cam Timing

I usually put the cam gear at 6 o’clock, and crank gear at 12 o’clock, because it is easier to see if you are a tooth off. Which I think is tdc #6 firing. If you turn the crank 1 turn, the cam gear mark will be at 12 o’clock and #1 firing. This is after degreeing the cam. I degree every one...

    Do you rotate your slicks?

The AMX I drive I swap the Hoosier radial slicks left to right and right to left about every 20 to 25 runs. The sidewalls usually go before the wear holes are worn out, and if I don’t swap, I had them go bad in 45 runs

    Purple cam for SB.

Some of the old purple shaft cams had no identification marks or numbers. I have had a few, the first cam I bought was a used .484 purple stripe cam for $10, because the guy couldn’t get it to idle in his 340. But no identification on it.

    Front tire help 70 Duster

I am installing new poly bushings and shafts in a 71 Demon. I noticed that the bushings are not flush with the cup like the original. I don’t think that it will be an issue with the manual steering street car, but I thought that it would lose positive caster when reassembled. When it is back...

    Going Powerglide

If you have a stock firewall, the clearance for the bellhousing bolts will be tight. Probably need longer dowel pins with the midplate too. There are plenty of different size spacers available for the converter bolts.

    1350 dana 60 - 8.75 pinion yoke ?

I used the Mark Williams yoke on my Dana 60, because at the time I was told that it was the only one that would fit the Racepak ring for the rpm sensor

    Dumb Question Of The Day

I had 2 blocks, a 360 and a 73 340, that the snap rings have popped out from the factory and the wrist pins scored the cylinder walls. I have never had a spirolox pop out.

    Are the Harmonic Balances interchangeable?

I think the timing marks are on the passenger side on the 68, and the driver side on the 73. So I would use the 68 damper with the 68 timing cover, and the 73 damper with the 73 cover. Or remark tdc on the damper

Occasional starting difficulty with Digital HP CD box in my D200

I don’t think that you want a resistor in the circuit, that would lower the voltage. If you only have 9 volts at the terminal, I would think that you have high resistance in the circuit. Could be the connections, or the ignition switch .

    Battery to trunk-would this work?

The master disconnect switch on the negative side is not NHRA legal . I did something similar to the wiring diagram on my race car, the starter relay is near the battery in the rear, and the battery cable is only hot when the starter is cranking

    Seat Belt Cert Questions

Since it is the off season, you could check on getting them recertified, but usually the shipping and cost to recert are more than new ones. I would check with RJS and see what the lead time to recert would be also.

Help - Adjusting ‘67 904 console floor shifter

Is it possible that the transmission you put in is a 904 but has a 727 valve body and park rod? The rods are different lengths, and won’t be able to adjust park position and get all the gears

Help Please! Sagging Front end, can't adjust Ride Height at all.

Also, excessive preload on a ladder bar can cause the front end not to be level. There is preload on the ladder bar and the rear coil springs that could affect your front height. Just because the rear springs were changed, doesn’t mean they are correct.

    408 stroker head gasket recommendation

I used the Cometic. 028 thick gaskets on a 340 that I built to get the quench correct. Probably what I would use. And even if you have the geometry correct, your cam lift will not be what is advertised. If you are planning on lift to bleed off cylinder pressure

Would an extra 2" of tread width help?

Depending on what the tires actually measure, could be 2” per side, or 4” total . I was always taught to put the biggest, stupidest tire on. If I was worried about the 60 foot change with bigger tires, I would change the rear gear to compensate. A friend of mine built a Monza, with a small...

    Pulley

There is a place near me that makes and sells them. Jones is the company, mostly small block Chevy and dirt track stuff, but they have Mopar stuff too. I put a small block Mopar set up on a 69 Dart street car for a friend of mine. Crank, water pump and alternator.

    pulling to the right

Had the same problem with my brother’s car years ago, when he snapped a bleeder off. I think the 9” and 10” front drum brakes take very similar looking wheel cylinders, but the 9” have a smaller diameter piston and cup. Didn’t find the reason for the brake pull until I changed to disk brakes.

    Front end setup (Drag Racing)

5 degrees is nice,if you can get it on both sides. If not , set it for as much positive caster as possible equally, with out binding anything. It is better to have the tire pressures all set, ride height adjusted and the driver or driver’s weight in the driver’s seat. I raise the front end up by...
