One more note. The rack and pinion not only handles much better, but also eliminates the bulky factory steering box. Again gaining some more room in cluttered spaces. Very clean look.

Oh, it also eliminated the Torsion bars, which should help for Manifolds, Headers, exhaust. This combo, even with stock manifolds would be awesome and probably simplify exhaust a bunch. jere

And in the article, it states they used RMS. All these swaps are so close. RMS was all bolt-in on my 68 and everything fit perfectly. I ordered the complete kit for mine. Good luck. Should be a Killer Combo in the early A Body. jere

Oh, there might be a little less stall behind the small block because of the torque difference.

As far as I can tell, there is no problem using a big block 727 converter in a small block 727. The cast crank motors converter used external weights to balance, so that would be one exception and then the later 70's 727 had a lock up converter. Those seem to be the only exceptions.

There was no problem with the converter. I just felt more comfortable having it gone through completely.

That's a good question. I have always been a Big Block person and don't know if the converter is the same for Small block and big block 727

Ron, I do not have a deck lip, but do have trim pieces for the 68. 1 NOS upper and 2 sets that are in good shape. Keep my contact as I do have quite a bit of trim and misc pieces from my build. Good luck on the lid and your build. jere
