The last Shootout, Sacramento Raceway 9-9-23

I spotted you there, as I was driving to the staging lanes, but I missed out on the chance of chatting it up... Huge showing of race cars. Too many. I don't understand the decision to double up on events.. other than $$$

Real data. EQ standard replacement Magnum head and comparisons with oem and NZ versions.

Especially him. takes forever to make a weak point, and works in filth. Too distracted in plugging up his bench with Dikem and taking velocity numbers on a preliminary test. I don't have the patience for it.

I disagree about staying on the shelf... they need to be thrown back into the crucible, and start OVER. :)

Has anyone ported stock magnum heads and have the before and after flow numbers .???

That's how they were advertised, for sure. Port and chamber shape were OEM magnum only with larger ports. By how much, I don't recall. I do remember however, that dog leg at the bottom of the turn wall enabled some handsome flow numbers in the mid lifts. The RHSs were virtually identical. I...

Well I won’t say I’m never going to buy another set of Speedmaster heads

There ya go John! I was wondering why you fixed those factory issues, per gratis. It's not your fault the manufacturer can't get it right. (I know, cause you're a good man ) I had an old friend bring me some Edelbrokes, and when I informed him of the problems, he wasn't happy. But he was...

Has anyone ported stock magnum heads and have the before and after flow numbers .???

Thanks for mentioning my thread.. It seems internet forums has just as short of a memory as an old magazine 40 years ago.. No matter how much work you put into it. Few actually do any research to summarily answer their own questions. As far as Weingartner's experiment, (something I/we...

[FOR SALE] Batten aluminum W2 head (bare)

If you're looking for some aluminum Batten W2's, I've got good news, and bad news. Good news is, I have one. Bad news is, I have ONE. I don't have any history on this head, as I obtained it through some horse trading. They are Ported. I would estimate them to go over 340 cfm with ease...

    Let's talk G3 hemi cams

lol that was back when the cam grinders used to name their cams.. Crower Monarch, Crane Hydraulic Hauler, or Blazer. I can't remember what Isky named that one you had... but it was definitely a few steps up from the Mile-a-more! lol BTW, glad to see you came around to the Mopar fold

Smart move on the 6.4 intake.. In the midst of scores of flow tests I've done on the Eagles (and pre-Eagles), is running engine combos on my dyno software.. What I've found, was that the OEM - long runner manifolds, is what made the difference in keeping the torque/HP curve under 6200 rpm...

    64 Dart hood dumb question

Yes, 63 and 64 are the same. VFN Fiberglass makes a very nice pin on for $530 (?) It has webbing underneath much like the OE hood I pinned mine in the front and added bosses for the hinges in the rear.

    Let's talk G3 hemi cams

It's a shame, isn't it? ...and it doesn't (shouldn't) have to be this way. "don't confuse me with the facts" has become the mantra that allows many of these shows to flourish.

    Let's talk G3 hemi cams

Well, right on! I would love to see some honesty in a direct comparo like that, instead of the usual one sided crap. What do you think? the Mopar has the widest Int manifold of the 3. That makes for longer runners for higher torque levels. There's been much discussion about rod ratio's, and...

Well, I did feel a little canceled... But, I do accept what you had to say. It's been a year since I've seen the episode I'm about to refer to.. I'm probably going to have to find it.. One time in particular, Holdener did a mopar, phord, shivi SB shootout, of sorts. First off, there was...

    Let's talk G3 hemi cams

Well, it's not just the lobe centers. It's the cam as a whole. Lobe profiles are different, on the Int but especially the exh. I'm speaking differences the cam card doesn't show. Also too, Holdener has decent content, but he leaves import particulars out... the stuff almost everyone misses...

    Let's talk G3 hemi cams

Well, when it comes to the application of most any source of boost, the dynamics that effect a NA motor goes sailing out the passenger window. Things like tuning effects of intake manifold runner length, or even Exh primary tube length become inconsequential. Also too, the flow dynamics of...

    Let's talk G3 hemi cams

I'm going to be doing some flow testing on a pre-Eagle head next week sometime.. The plan is to use the OE Eagle 2.05 valves. Mainly cause they're cheap to get and an upgrade, but that's why I'm doing it. The Exh pic is for the Eagle only. the Pre-Eagle Exh ports are very different..

    Let's talk G3 hemi cams

The Exh ports are less than impressive, for sure. But I refuse to throw the baby out with the bath water. What they come down to is, grind out to the gasket (top arc only) but leave the bottom as is.(size wise) And then grind accordingly on the roof to blend into that new size. (make sense? )...
