Does anyone sell "crate" motors that are not "408"s?

Maybe it was 460 hp. I just want to see idle rpm and vacuum on all these builds

Does anyone sell "crate" motors that are not "408"s?

Didn’t Ehrenberg just build a 480 hp stock stroke 360?

    408 Scat Stroker Kits

I have a 4” scat cast in my Dart’s 408. Runs very well. I’ve not ETed this car, but feels like low 12s

    Shake Shake Shake

Intermittent shaking sure sounds like tuning. Interior balance issues will be constant. Can’t see how any valvetrain situations could create.

    Pinion angle

Surely. With a snug pinion snubber you might see some housing twist at launch, but settles back down with less torque at speed, leading towards no vibration at all, like cruising. No one will notice a driveshaft imbalance at low driveshaft speed for a few seconds

    Pinion angle

Yes! You would really notice any vibration while cruising, but not notice necessarily while under WOT. Great post Treblig!

    Pinion angle

THAT was quite an example, hard to wrap my head around it. I just assumed all parts would be moving equally. So on a lifted 4x4, with an extreme driveshaft angle, all is well if the rear end yoke and tranny are in line?

    Pinion angle

I think if the car’s stance is close to original, it’s close enough. See how it rides, and if it vibrates try shimming the axle up or down a tad and run again. I’ve been in cars with the *** end obnoxiously high, and didn’t notice any vibration.

380 crate cam and stall converter

I didn’t know anyone even made 1.7 rockers for Mopar, guess I’m outta the loop. Give all your specs to Frank Lupo’s Dynamic transmissions, they’re very good! I would guess for street and strip around 3000 stall.

    Name this tool?

If nothing really moves, could be some sort of soldering tool

Do you sleep easy knowing your jack is made in China?

Jeeez, lots of dialog on jacks. I bought a 1.5 ton unit from Jegs, literally puked out oil on it’s tenth use. I scrapped it. Almost everything is made in China now. Hearing that Snap On is built in the same Chinese factory as some of the HF models is very interesting. The SO truck comes to my...

    Compressed Air Piping

Hmmm, Pex huh? As a plumber I do sometimes use Pex for water supplies. With the Upanor brand you just can’t let it be exposed to sunlight. It certainly won’t shatter like PVC, is very fast to install, won’t rust. I would be sure to use brass fittings though, not the black plastic ones, as they...

    Tremendously great vintage NASCAR

I love watching the racing footage from the early 70’s. If a car bumps a wall you simply pull out some hammers and bend things back into place, then race again. Nowadays if a insect makes contact, plastic is flying, dogs barking, babies crying. Not to mention I really can’t tell what...

    440 tunnel ram

Yep. My old original rr 383 ran super strong ‘till the cam lost a lobe. When I changed cam I found a super loose chain and plenty of plastic teeth in the oil pickup screen.

    440 tunnel ram

Really? I’ve run the basic non billet ones for years. My 500” bb has a single bolt big sprocket to make things sound more ominous. That’s how it came as a short block though, I certainly would have preferred a billet set. I was thinking save some dough on that mild engine.

    440 tunnel ram

Those timing chains wear quickly. Buy a Hughes whiplash cam designed for low comp, new cheapo roller timing chain set, decent dual plane intake, 4bbl carb, 34*_36* total advance, have fun with a much faster car. Oil pressure looked good, might last a long time.

    Power Steering is Very Sloppy

I fully agree with RustyRatRod! It should be obvious to a keen eye. My rr used to handle weirdly. I jacked up the front and could move the passenger wheel in and out a bunch. When I looked under the car, the idler arm frame side bushing was sloppy as hell, letting the center link end travel up...

Has anyone tried the Borgeson PS Box??

I also bought one from Peter, seems to work pretty well, even though my rr with a Firm Feel #3 box gives more feedback it seems. However, with that said, my alignment shop set my caster at 7 degrees positive! They said you can’t have enough trail. I rebuilt the front end myself, adding tubular...

    Proform Adjustable Pinion Snubber

I bought stock height leafs from Firm Feel for my ‘69 Dart. Last time under the car with weight on the rear end, it looked like I had over 2” between the snubber top and the floor. On my rr, I bought one of the older Mopar performance red adjustable snubbers. Even in the lowest pin hole it was...

    Hello from the West coast

Thanxs you guys, it’s fun to be back in a like minded club! I will get some pics of the rr on here soon. It was a candy apple green w/white top and interior, auto on the colum originally, now it’s totally different. Yes Mysons, I built the dash a few years ago, and joined the ammeter wires per...

    383/438 Build

I’m not clear on how that valley tray is going to seal on that 383 block with the Stealth heads. Those heads don’t protrude further inward to seal over the beveled edges of the tray. Years ago I called Indy Cylinder to buy their tray that some “dude” said would work with my Edelbrock Performer...

    Hello from the West coast

Hi everyone! I've looked at this forum on and off for quite a while, liked what I read and figured I'd join up! I've owned my '69 road runner since 1983, and bought a '69 Dart a few years ago. I've done lots of modifications to both cars, so l have some knowledge. I probably will try to pick...
