Parked in a pasture and the floors are gone...typical for round here. Looks like lots of parts at the least. Thanks for sharing.

Lumber question for those in the building trades

The good news is that fractions keep millennials from building your house...:p...the bad news is that in a few years you'll only be able to find uno, dos, tres tape measures.

    Hvac peoples

I agree with this premise. My previous point about effectiveness below 40F is based on my preference for low SEER units. My experience is that more expensive high efficiency units necessitate more expensive repairs, wiping out the energy savings in the long run. I'm in a much milder climate...

Conventional air to air heat pump is not effective below about 40F but works efficiently in the range 40-70F. It is just an air conditioning system that also works in reverse. I would say its worth considering, but strongly suggest you have LP or natural gas as an auxiliary heat source. Heat...

    Residential HVAC (Heat Pump) question

Your best bet is let the tech look at it before you go any further. The component you see through the top of the outdoor unit is the reversing valve. It is a slide valve and can get stuck in one position or the other. In some cases it can be tapped lightly to pop loose, but let the "pro" do...

    Residential HVAC (Heat Pump) question

If your tstat has an emergency heat or aux heat setting you can flip to it. That will engage the electric heat strips directly. You won't have to freeze, but it might lighten your wallet if you have to rely on it for a few days. If the tstat is set up correctly, in normal heating mode, after a...

    Residential HVAC (Heat Pump) question

Could be a number of things or a combination of things. You already can tell the service technician more than most homeowners. Just as a dummy check, make sure you have a clean filter at the air handler. Refrigerant pressures are a function of airflow across the coils, ambient temps, condition...

    Oil press sensor thread..?

VDO has an extensive catalog but their website is hard to navigate. I had a gauge but no sending unit. I reached out to them for guidance and they got back to me quickly with an appropriate match.

TOOL FIND at flea market Anything I should know??

5.5mm is one helluva particular ignition wrench The German stuff I'm sure is good quality, they have good steel. The older japanese stuff is so-so, but I'm not above using it. I think "Sears" branded stuff was mostly Japanese. Nice haul. None of my wrenches match either...

    Power Steering Pump differences

I gotcha...you're talking LS stuff. Thats a little itty bitty thing. Working up some new bracketry would be a project for sure.

    Power Steering Pump differences

Chrysler used the later pump up into the 80s on LA motors. I don't know about your part of the world but in the States you can score everything you need off trucks + vans at the junkyard. Mine came off an '85 Fifth Avenue. And GM used the same pump at least into the late 70s.

    contour paint stripper

I have the contour. Its a solid, heavy tool and I expect I could get through many projects with it. I don't believe that it works any better than other abrasive methods in removing paint, but it does well in not heating the sheet metal up. Its a little cumbersome in tight spots and you will...

    Exhaust manifold paint / anti-seize

Look into Slip-plate. You can get it in a spray can. Its a farm implement graphite lubricant. The jeep & 4x4 guys use it, i guess they find it repels mud and holds up to heat.

Their Late Father's Dying Wish Was for Them to Finish His Dodge Dart. Now They Need Help

Yeah I don't get what goes on in these people's heads...unless they never paid any mind to their dad's hobby until he passed, and then they learned the potential value of the car. I hate that I'm so cynical about it, but then again, people shamelessly soliciting for funding of their hobbies...

The other drain is for AC. The diagram is not your application. I just wanted you to see that the manual makes direct reference to the white assembly as a condensate trap.

    Furnace Ideas / Help

Yep, you're right I am. The white assembly appears to have an integral trap, bottom should be barbed for fitting tubing. IOM is not clear on this but sort of hints around its function. See below reference from page 62 (note this is not the application in question, just showing an explicit...

    Furnace Ideas / Help

What is make & model of the furnace? From pictures, I don't think a trap would be required as it appears located positive side of the blower - it would drain regardless. But without a trap it would be noisy.

    Furnace Ideas / Help

If the trap is necessary and there is potential for freezing, heat tracing and then insulating the trap may be a solution. That is commonly done in low-temp refrigeration. A 120V heat trace pulling about an amp could coexist on the furnace circuit. Hopefully you guys can talk it through. I'd be...

    Furnace Ideas / Help

You should have a trapped condensate drain off the furnace that will collect the condensate accumulating in the vent. Make sure it's trapped and dumps in an inoffensive location.

    alternatives to paypal

Yes, if you are reading it straight. What alarms me is how arbitrarily it can be enforced, and you as an account holder have little recourse. The "mainstream" (for lack of better term) social media companies have been arbitrarily enforcing their EUA's to clamp down on discourse they deem...

    alternatives to paypal

USPS money orders were mentioned earlier...they are a safe means of transferring payments up to $1k USD, if you don't mind the hassle + extended time for your transaction to take place. Again, there is no protection for the transaction of goods, only the fund transfer is secure. Int'l money...

    alternatives to paypal

I'm not seeing alternative providers that offer equivalent services...I think most of us use F+F to avoid fees, and probably are transacting less than $200 at a time? Does that seem like the typical use-case? Zelle seems best for small transactions, no fees, but no protection. These are direct...

    alternatives to paypal

The ability to rate buyers and sellers on the forum could assuage some of the concerns regarding lack of protection from other providers. Small sums I'm not terribly concerned about. I'd like to think we're a high trust group here.
