[SOLD] Slant Six 4bbl: Offenhauser 5270 and Holley 8007 390 CFM

I have a 4bbl intake and carb that I was going to use on my slant six before it turned into a 318 Magnum. Parts are located in Albuquerque, and I will ship. Offenhauser 5270: Very nice 1997 casting, all threads look great. Freshly sandblasted and ready for color of your choice. Comes with...

Any 46RH Gurus? Incorrect governor pressure…

I’ll try to keep this relatively brief, as I have a tendency to ramble with technical details… I’ve been fighting an A518/46RH swap since the summer. Go #1 was an eBay trans I purchased for the swap that lost all forward gears within 3 miles of driving (drove home in reverse, which worked just...

looking for 318 tips and advice

On a strict budget, one of the best things you might be able to do is find a later roller cam 318 in a pick and pull. They came in at 9.0-9.2:1, and have better flowing swirl port heads. Lots of ‘85+ M-bodies came with those motors. Add a stock 4bbl manifold and small carb, and upgrade the cam...

    Roller LA Deck Height

Their site went to crap a while back. I typically use summits website for the specs on their products, but their cam cards are particularly hard to find. Here’s Summits info for that cam: Lunati 20200711 Lunati Voodoo Camshafts | Summit Racing I’ve got the smaller 20200714 I bought on sale a...

    Roller LA Deck Height

I had some time this morning and played with dynamic compression and cranking pressure calculations. The cam I'd like to run in this motor (Lunati 20200711, advertised duration 270deg with a 106IC) should put me at 8.73DCR and 154PSI cranking pressure, assuming a 5cc Piston relief (KB107), 64cc...

    1990 360 roller motor w/factory windage tray

I’m wondering the same thing myself. Mine had 184k on it according to the odometer. That should be fine for the cam/lifters, and okay for the bores as well, since the combo of TBI and moly rings should have resulted in a pretty easy life for them. I’m most concerned about the rod/crank...

    1990 360 roller motor w/factory windage tray

What I found interesting about the ‘92 motor I pulled was that it did not have the timing cover machined for a fuel pump. Others I have seen are machined and have a blockoff plate, like the one mopardude posted. Here’s mine: This one also has the roller gear inside: I assume it still has a...

    1990 360 roller motor w/factory windage tray

I just pulled a ‘92 LA 360 out of a Ramcharger this weekend. I’ll have to check when I get it up on the stand and see if it has a windage tray also. That would be rather nice.

    Roller LA Deck Height

Also, that's good news on the Magnum connecting rods. If my engine shares that peculiarity, it makes some of the available piston options a bit easier to implement. Gotta love automotive transitional years.

    Roller LA Deck Height

I'd love to talk specifics, just didn't want to scare people off with a thread starter that was even longer than it already is. The engine is going in a daily commuter. Car is a '77 Volare, slant six/auto, manual everything, no A/C car. As rugged as the slant six has been, its cold weather...

    Roller LA Deck Height

Rusty, I don't think you're missing anything, other than that this is less hand wringing and more trying to get ahead of what combination is going to work well with this block. .014" difference is significant when talking about quench, though likely less significant from a general machining...

    Roller LA Deck Height

During my junkyard diving this weekend, I came home with a 360LA Roller Cam engine out of a '92 Ramcharger (530096921 casting). I've had an '89 Roller Cam 318 sitting in the corner of the garage for a while that's intended for a Volare swap, but I couldn't pass up the 360 roller motor for $200...

    [WANTED] Weiand Action Plus (8007)

Looking for an Action Plus 8007 if anyone has one laying around and wants to clear up some space and make some money. I’m building a roller 318 and hoping to shed some weight for less than the $250+ they want for them new. Thanks!

Reverse Split Pattern Cam - 318 Magnum Head swap

You can actually get them drilled for the LA bolt pattern instead of the magnum pattern, that’s my plan. I little pricey up front, but I’ve never gone wrong putting money into good heads. I picked up a 71 340 Intake the other day from a great Mopar guy on Facebook Marketplace. It should work...

Reverse Split Pattern Cam - 318 Magnum Head swap

Yep, I read all through your thread. Lots of great info. I think we've got pretty similar build goals. I'm going to spring for the Magnum heads, but plan on running Magnum exhaust manifolds, valvetrain, and a factory 4bbl intake to help even out some of the cost. I considered the regrind, but I...

Reverse Split Pattern Cam - 318 Magnum Head swap

Yep, same with mine. Said last one left, and then went up to $300 the next day. Maybe they had a batch of grinds that were just far enough off the speed shops wouldn't sell them, so they pushed them to amazon sales.

Reverse Split Pattern Cam - 318 Magnum Head swap

That's one heck of a response, AJ. Thank you. I'm going to have to do some more reading and thinking about some of the stuff you mentioned, it does make sense, but my knowledge in that area is a little thin. From what I can gather, my SCR should be between 8.8 and 9.2 with the 62cc Magnum...

Reverse Split Pattern Cam - 318 Magnum Head swap

That's what I gathered. Seems like if taken too far, you could get into EGR-by-cam pretty quick though. So do the magnum heads/exhaust manifolds flow well enough to warrant a reverse split cam, or is this just going to be a waste of time that needs to go back?

Reverse Split Pattern Cam - 318 Magnum Head swap

Not how I wanted my intro post to go, but I'm stumped on a cam question and figured I'd better ask the experts... BLUF: Should I even consider a reverse split duration cam on a 318 roller build with Magnum heads? I'm working on a roller cam 318 LA build from an '88 Fifth Avenue that I parted...
