Biggest front tire that can be run on 1964 plymouth valiant

I’m running 225/60/15’s all around on my 64 Dart, using the 15” Chrysler rallye wheels, I think they’re from summit if I recall correctly.

    Slant 6 MPG Upgrades?

Hey, the toolbox is only 50lbs lol. I’m running a 4 bbl qft jetted down to match the 225 better and headers with pretty free flowing exhaust. The trans issue is something I’ve considered. I have a second 64 dart I’ve been using for parts and it’s a manual, so I have the 4 speed trans and pedals...

    Slant 6 MPG Upgrades?

I had a 70s kneeknocker in there. Between that and the york compressor from the same time, it was just dead weight. Eventually I'll swap over to a unit that replaces the factory heater box and does it all. Modern compressors are lighter, and the heater box replacements are the same weight or...

    Half floor pans question

I believe you can get the full pan in on a 2-door car. Yes, you can do a lap weld. Most people do a butt weld by tacking and then doing the full seam, but if you're up close to the door frame itself you wouldn't lose anything by lapwelding, and you could throw some silicone between the pieces...

    Half floor pans question

I agree, if a full pan is available for your year, that’s the way to go. Just welds around the perimeter, less need to make sure your cuts line up perfectly as with the smaller sections and less welding.

    Half floor pans question

I did the half pans on my 64. They were honestly great.

    MS3 , Multiport & turbo build

https://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=65328 Is this the style of modification you did to the cam sensor?

    MS3 , Multiport & turbo build

I've seen a number of people who did that, hall-effect sensor that detects the cam lobe. That works, but personally I'd like to replace the distributor with something that does the same job. When I switch to EFI I want to take full advantage of it.

Thank you for this. Do you have a picture and/or part number for the cam sensor? Those LS coil mounts look great.

What Seats are you all running?

Did you swap in the front buckets or the rear bench? Looking at swapping a later bench into my dart.

    Bench seat swap?

I need to get some measurements but I'm thinking about the rear seat from a fiat 500L. The driver's side portion has an independent front-back adjustment and tilt, a folding center armrest, and the center and passenger side seats do front-back and tilt together. It also has headrests that can go...

    Bench seat swap?

My front bench seat is getting to the end of its life. Broken, rusty springs, and the foam is wearing out. So, with that in mind, I'm thinking about swapping in another bench seat and just having it upholstered to look the same as my current one. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts...

    MS3 , Multiport & turbo build

I read through the documentation of the MS3Pro last night to try and get an idea for how it works. It looks like you can adapt a points distributor to function as a camshaft sensor using a Hall effect sensor. OP's setup for the crank is the only setup I can think of to get an accurate reading...

    A body radiators

I had the 3-core from Champion but due to its thickness I was unable to fit an electric fan between it and the engine, trying to figure out if their 2-core has less depth, similar to the factory radiator.

Can you share more about your ignition? Correct any of this if it's wrong I want to make sure I understnad - the MegaSquirt takes place of the distributor and controls spark to each of the cylinders and timing, as well as when fuel is injected. How are you mounting coils and wiring it? How...

    Slant 6 MPG Upgrades?

Argonne National Laboratory did a few studies on engine lubrication and efficiency, which is fascinating, but they also provide valubale data on all of the various power losses in operating a vehicle. 2006 2014 They're a rabbit hole in and of themselves, but the highlight is that they estimate...

    Slant 6 MPG Upgrades?

    - I'm not so concerned about how long it takes me to make back what I spent. I like working on my car, and want it to run the best it can. I'll make back the money in a few years at least, but I'll have had fun making the change and figuring it out. - I didn't know that about the cast cranks...

    Slant 6 MPG Upgrades?

Actually now that I'm thinking about it, you're right. If I keep my current intake/carb setup on the car I can continue using it while I assemble the parts I need and make the conversion. Once I know it works and works well, I can sell my intake and maybe my carb and recoup some of the cost.

I like to make a thorough response instead of piece meal, just makes it easier if someone comes and looks at this thread in the future. Hell it makes it easier if I need to come back to this thread too I'll need to pull my logs and get those numbers for 1 and 2. 3) 3.23 4) It should be...

    Slant 6 MPG Upgrades?

Yes, currently 3.23. With overdrive of .78 final drive ratio, my effective rear end will be effectively 2.5 without sacrificing torque for acceleration. Once I get up to a nice cruising speed it'll drop down the RPMs, making up for fuel inefficiency in the city. The car is a 64 dart with a...

    Slant 6 MPG Upgrades?

I'm soon to have my grenaded /6 back, and starting a new higher paying job so I'll have some disposable income. Being that I have my Dart to daily, and want to continue doing so, I want to maximize my actual mpg. With the modifications made to my setup, I was getting 20 mpg average...

    Car audio guy here....

Yes, I get less road noise overall and less heat in the cabin. It doesn't get rid of everything but it helps. If I ever have my interior out again I plan to lay down DynaPad or similar over top of the kilmat, it's an open cell foam that also removes noise.

I have it in my 64 dart. Highly reccomend Kilmat 80 mil. Got a few boxes and put a square in every door. I also laid it down all the way from firewall back and on the package tray. I had no issues. If you roll it down, it sticks right away, no odor to speak of. I did notice less heat...

Poor hot idle caused by ethanol gas? Whaddya think?

You're dealing with vaporlock in the heat. It was not an uncommon issue before fuel injection, especially on hotter days. Yes, ethanol gas could be contributing to it, because it has a lower boiling point than non-ethanol, it's not likely to be your entire issue. As others suggested, doing...

    Car audio guy here....

About 20-25lbs from what I can tell. A pack of 36 ft^2 is 17lbs. Did slightly more than a pack. It’s realistically not all that much weight, and it’s spread evenly along the floorpan, so if anything it slightly lowers the center of gravity, and it’s all between your wheels.

    Car audio guy here....

I talked about this maybe 2 years ago, I had my interior out while replacing the engine and did some major sound deadening. 80mil kilmat across the firewall, the entire floor pan, and on the rear axle hump behind the back seat in my 64 dart. I also put it on the package tray top and bottom...

    Sound deadener install

I used the thick kilmat, covered the entire floor, mounted the high beam switch on top. Its around 2-3 layers thick over the transmission tunnel. I didn't mount on the roof, but only because I didn't feel like taking out my headliner, otherwise I would have. I didn't put mine up along my...
