Mopars in the Park 2024 at Stillwater Minnesota

I was registered car number 2 in the 1200 class! I had planned to debut the car at 2023, but it's OK to be late! :)

Remote Hood Latch Release - DONE!

I am editing the main post with updates.

Sneaking in without a roll cage

For those that have seen my build - it's centered around being a sleeper first and foremost. But since I now I have 600+ HP at the crank it's gonna throw down some decent times at the strip. I REALLY REALLY don't want to put a cage in it, but I'd like to see what it could do on a prepared...

Remote Hood Latch Release - DONE!

Hey FABO folks - I've seen a few posts out there on wanting to do remote hood latch releases on non-equipped cars. I just finished doing the install on my '71 - I did some research using the parts catalog for a 1973 car with the release (got the part number and cross reference parts), a little...

'71 Dart 6.4L swap progress being made!

I got her out for a show today. Nothing but positive reactions, most common comment was “how the hell did you fit it in there?”

'71 Dart 6.4L swap progress being made!

OH BOY! That tune was WAAAY off. I was pinging under medium load - I think the boys were using best-case gas assumptions, but that's OK - 30 minutes in the car with live tuning, and before you know it, it's dialed in! They had to take 10 degrees of advance out of the timing curve. My tuner...

'71 Dart 6.4L swap progress being made!

I've taken it out for some limited miles - I still need to have my tuner go through the ECU since the "temporary tune" was with stubs off of the headers, and not the full exhaust. She's definitely running toasty at highway speeds, so it'll be "cruisin' speed" for now. That's scheduled for the...

I had to chase the threads on every single stud for the bench. That tap and die set paid for itself!

And the bench is in! It was a bit too late to take her for a drive but that’s good for tomorrow.

Tomorrow I get the front bench seat in and go for the inaugural cruise! Installing carpet is nerve wracking, but that gold makes the interior POP!

Today’s the day!!! I’m heading over this morning to get the car loaded up on a flatbed for delivery back home! remaining on the list - finish removing the last bits of the carpet pad, install dynamat , cut and install the new carpet, install seats and arm rests, adjust the rear window angle so...

Oh and I bought a bunch of stuff pre COVID so I saved money before prices went stupid. Makes me wonder how anyone can afford to do these!

'71 Dart 6.4L swap progress being made!

I haven’t kept a full accounting of what I’ve spent (or I think my wife would have divorced me) but at the moment I’m about $40k into the project for what I’ve paid the shops for wiring, motor, transmission, rear axle, engine computer, install labor, suspension install / alignment, and assorted...

'71 Dart 6.4L swap progress being made!

Car is in for alignment and frame rail installation as of noon today! I decided to go with an off the shelf TTI exhaust system to speed up the process, as the exhaust guy has limited availability to build custom. So best case scenario, it’ll be back in my driveway in a few weeks for the...

    Questions about a 2006 5.7

Yeah, I made the choice early on with my car, it was “build a balls to the wall 360 stroker” for $17k with my shop, or “order a brand new crate motor with accessories ” for $12k. Obviously the direction changed going from a stock 485 HP build of the crate which increased the budget, but we’ve...

    Questions about a 2006 5.7

The stock intakes flow much better than they’re given credit for. On my 6.4 project, with zero mods on the intake side it’s putting down 615HP to the crank.

Original Carpet Color? - 1971 Dart GY8 Gold, Black Vinyl Roof, Harvest Gold Interior (H2Y3)

I'm debating if the carpet is actually original to the car, since it's got 145k miles, and I know it's been out of the car (previous owner put some sort of... metallic insulation under the rear seat) - That's why I'm thinking he swapped it from a different car. I don't think they would have...

Original Carpet Color? - 1971 Dart GY8 Gold, Black Vinyl Roof, Harvest Gold Interior (H2Y3)

Hey FABO Brains! I have a '71 Dart GY8 Gold Iridescent (metallic) car, Black Vinyl Top, with original Harvest Gold Vinyl Interior (H2Y3) with black door trim (per the broadcast sheet.) https://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/dealerships/colorAndTrim/1971/71_Dart0003.jpg The carpet in the...

    hot wire harness installation question

If you check my thread in this group, my wiring guy used the hole originally fit the heater core and it basically provides an invisible location to get the harness to pass under the factory 6.4 cover. This obviously means you’d be doing the retrofit AC /heater system which uses the factory...

'71 Dart 6.4L swap progress being made!

Ha! Steps forward steps backward, and then steps forward again... The rubber mounts we placed compressed with the engine weight and caused them to sink slightly. This brought back a clearance issue with the headers and torsion bars on both sides (previously the Passenger side fit with no...

'71 Dart 6.4L swap progress being made!

Actually they've been working with their engineers - this seems to be an issue with more than just the Gen 3 Hemis - the LS and Coyote engines are also having issues with the flow routing, and specifically modern engines being under a much higher working pressure. One of the test cars blew the...

'71 Dart 6.4L swap progress being made!

Spoke with my guys. Yeah… first show of the year is definitely not gonna happen. We’re moving forward but guys with bigger wallets than me are on the list. At this point we had to swap back from the rubber mounts to poly locs due to settling of the material. We had clearance and then we didn’t...
