    Removing hard headliner 75 duster.

I got it from year one. It's a plastic liner with a cloth cover. They sell them without the cover also. They have to be trimmed to fit properly and the holes for the sun visors were an inch too far inward from where they should have been. It was a pain in the butt to get it installed properly...

I had problems with getting my new one to fit also. Didn't have much choice though. It had to be done.

    Removing hard headliner 75 duster.

You could give that a try. They do make repros in case you screw it up. The new ones are made out of plastic so they don't fall apart as easily. They are not exactly cheap though so if you can save your original one it would be better.

    Removing hard headliner 75 duster.

The hard headliners are just held up by the trim pieces and the dome light, sun visors, rear view mirror, etc... Other than that they are just there. No bows, glue or anything. Just remove a bunch of screws and it will come right out. The problem is that the old liners become very brittle with...

    Help... Vin #'s dont match

Having a rebodied car might not be a problem if all the guy wants to do is drive it himself, but he would have problems if he ever decided to resell it. Not only that, but what if some other thieving turd steals it and removes the VIN? How would he prove that the car belonged to him if the...

Wiped Cam Lobe Theory - Imput Wanted:

Cam lobes are usually wiped during the initial start up of the engine because they weren't lubed and broken in properly. On A engines the lobe that gets destroyed the most is the one at the very back of the engine because there is no oil drain hole directly over it so it relies almost entirely...

    Help... Vin #'s dont match

I would like to see pics of the numbers also. People did have a bad habit of "rebodying" cars back in the old days but you never know. I once had a challenger with numbers on the rear that didn't match but after stripping the paint off I found out that the rear of the car had been smashed and...

Brazilian Dodge Dart 76 (similar to 69 usa)

I just now found this thread. I have no idea how I missed it all these years. (must have been asleep or something.) This thread is awesome!! I'm reading everything from the very beginning. I love the way you make a lot of your own parts and tools too. You are giving me some ideas for...

    help needed

If the 71 has an 8.75 rear end you should definitely keep that. It's much better than the one in the 75. If you need to change it to the larger bolt pattern you could just get new axles for it, or have the ones in it drilled for the larger bolt pattern. On the front suspension and steering I...

Any Body ever see this Mopar engine

That's the Westlake Indy engine the Rod Shop raced in a Dodge Colt in the early 70s. It "disappeared" several decades ago and was found a couple of years ago crated up in a warehouse. It was listed for sale on Ebay and Racingjunk for a while. Don't know if it ever sold or not. Here are a couple...

    it went " poof" !!

I was visiting my parents out at their little farm and left my windows rolled down over night. Started my car up the next morning and drove about 30 miles to the next town. I was sitting at a busy intersection when all hell broke loose behind me! Wings were flapping, feathers were flying and...

    Damsel in distress

I wouldn't say that you messed anything up. Anytime you try to start driving a car that has been sitting for a long period of time there are going to be a lot of minor little things wrong with it like leaks and electrical problems and such. Cars have a tendency to deteriorate when they are not...

    Damsel in distress

Yup, battery is dead as I suspected. That's probably why it won't crank over. You need to get the battery charged up and then try to start it. Also the alternator is probably bad (or has a problem with the wiring) since it allowed the battery to die. I am guessing that getting those two things...

    1/4 mile vs 1/8 mile

Sounds like everybody is pretty much in agreement that a car set up for the 1/4 is equally good in the 1/8th. Alrighty. Y'all have me convinced. I'll go ahead and build this car for the 1/4 and run it in both and see what happens. Then I'll decide what to do with the other one. Maybe I'll build...

    Damsel in distress

Also, that one spark plug that did not have the wire hooked up could also have caused the engine to back fire. Since that cylinder would not have been firing the gasoline would have just been going down into the exhaust until it finally caught fire and created the loud bang. If that happened I...

    Damsel in distress

I don't see any reason why the engine would be locked if there was still oil in it when it stopped running. Those slant sixes are practically indestructible. Does the engine do anything at all when you try to start it? Does it make a clicking noise? Does the battery still have power? It's...

    1/4 mile vs 1/8 mile

Yes, I am building the car up for bracket racing. The other car will probably become a race car too sooner or later. I just haven't decided exactly what I'm going to do to it yet. (Sorry j par) :D

How many, have nursed a knocking Rod home?

I melted a piston in a 360 AMC javelin once. It tore several chunks of aluminum off and gouged the heck out of the cylinder wall. I let it cool off and was able to drive it 50 miles to the house. It ran ok but by the time I got it home the rear seal was leaking because the blowby pressurized the...

    1/4 mile vs 1/8 mile

I'm just wondering if there would be any advantage to having separate cars that are optimized for each type of track. Even if there's just a slight advantage it might be worth doing it if it would help to win races.

    1/4 mile vs 1/8 mile

I have a question. If you were going to build two cars, one for the 1/4 mile and one for the 1/8th mile, what would be the differences between the two? I would assume a lower axle ratio would be better for the 1/8th mile but what about the engine, horsepower, trans, converter, weight, etc...

Help me please tryin to beef up 318

Here's a link to an article about the different types of heads that could be used. http://www.hotrod.com/how-to/engine/mopp-0607-mopar-cylinder-head/ My suggestions for a 318 would be either the 302 castings or some of the newer magnum heads. The 302s can be found pretty easily in junkyards or...

Help me please tryin to beef up 318

I would also advise against the 360 heads on a 318. Not only will they lower the compression but they will also cut down the flow because of valve shrouding which means you would also need to notch the cylinder walls in addition to milling the heads and intake. I would suggest the 302 casting...

Horrific crash at Little River Dragway

Little River is mainly an 8th mile track except when the street cars run on Friday nights. It used to be quarter mile back in the old days but as the cars got faster the track got shorter. I've always liked the trees along the track there. Never thought of them as being dangerous but I've never...

    73 duster questions

Low 13s in a 360 duster shouldn't be too difficult. I would recommend changing the rear gears first. Add a set of headers if it doesn't already have them, put a higher stall converter and then strip all of the excess weight off of the car. That would get you heading in the right direction.
