What happened to gasoline in the mid 1970s?

You didn't answer my question. I wasn't asking if hydrocarbons were being produced from a bucket containing gasoline. I was asking if you think gasoline is hydrocarbons or not.

What happened to gasoline in the mid 1970s?

You really think gasoline is not hydrocarbons? Whether or not gasoline is detectable as hydrocarbons in emissions testing is a different question. I'd just like to know if you are really saying gasoline is not hydrocarbons.

What happened to gasoline in the mid 1970s?

What money is in ethanol that is motivating the government? It goes back way farther than 1989 https://www.hemmings.com/stories/2013/06/24/lost-cars-of-the-1980s-honda-civic-crx We are 37 years later and cars are still not doing way better. They should be doing way better.

What happened to gasoline in the mid 1970s?

Fortunately, I don't think that so no tears need to be shed. A car could be quite efficient but still exhaust plenty of pollution. I think it makes sense that if the goal is limiting pollution then test directly for pollution. Don't test for something else assuming it is correlated.

What happened to gasoline in the mid 1970s?

That is all very different than my understanding. Gasoline is fundamentally a bunch of hydrocarbons. An efficient, clean vehicle would ideally only emit CO2 and H2O, wouldn't it? Any molecules coming out the tailpipe with both H and C in them are hydrocarbons which should have been burned during...

What happened to gasoline in the mid 1970s?

Hi, Thanks for all the responses! Lead, carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides. All seem like good things to keep out of the air. It looks what I read about 88 unleaded octane was wrong. There were multiple grades available back then too up into the 100 octane range. That...

What happened to gasoline in the mid 1970s?

Hi, I wasn't around in the mid 1970s. I've been reading old threads here that containing "octane" and reading articles on the web. What I've gathered is the following which may be mostly wrong. I'd love to know what the real story is. Before the mid 1970s, people used leaded gasoline that had...

    2000 lb, 500 wheel hp, Dart 340?

Cool! Has your friend posted info about his Nova online? I'm ok with more horsepower out of a 340 engine as long as the car is slower than 8.5 s quarter mile and faster than the 840 hp Demon! I'd happily go with a smaller engine if it could help reduce weight still have 500 hp and reach the...

    2000 lb, 500 wheel hp, Dart 340?

Yeah. I'm still wondering if 2000 lbs and 500 hp in a Dart form is really possible. The 1968 Hemi Dart was 3000 lbs but had a 426 iron engine and a few fiberglass parts. Shaving off 1000 lbs seems like quite a task.

    2000 lb, 500 wheel hp, Dart 340?

Could a 2000 lb, 500 wheel hp, dart 340 be built? Aluminum engine. Supercharged. Carbon fiber body. NHRA chromoly cage/chassis. One seat. Spare tire out. Light battery. Etc. No requirement to use any Mopar parts. Street legal. (Could even more power with a lighter weight be built?) According to...
