    71 Duster carpet 4 speed

Just finished my 4 speed swap, and need to install the carpet I bought from rock auto... Just their generic one but made sure it was for 4 speed... I assume the shape is different for the tunnel hump? Anyway, need help getting my head around install. Do I cut out the shifter opening but it...

    Regulator wiring

Dumb question.... I am running an internally regulated power master or something alternator, and the factory wiring harness is taped off to the side. I need to move my firewall mounted regulator to mount my hydraulic clutch reservoir, but can I just omit it completely at this point, do those...

    Shifter rods... oy

So the trans I bought came with an old set of rusty rods that did not look correct. Last year I bought a newer set from a local guy that said was from his 71 A body, however, I did not verify just took his word because i know him and I am stupid sometimes. Anyway, looking at these pics vs...

    Some snags with my conversion

The clutch pedal sits much deeper than the brake. It allows for some adjustment with a tab, but that only pushes it further down. To engage the brake light (or disengage i guess) the brake pedal sits 2" higher. Very confusing Second, using the hydramax 1-23 bearing with the spacer. I have read...

    A833 driveshaft length?

I am going from 440/727 to 440/A833. I know the driveshaft will be too short, what is the needed? 1971 Duster, 8 3/4 rearend. I searched but now I am dizzy as people seem to measure differently. I have read anywhere from 47.75 to 48.96 "

    Supporting the engine?

Ready to pull my 727 to be replaced with A833... Question is how do I support the back of my 440 when I yank the trans? The two most likely stupid ideas I had or a combo of both; There is a one inch ish space between the oil pan and the drag link, I thought about placing a 1x1 piece of wood...

In all of my Brewers orders I forgot the bolts! Can someone please tell me the sizes and lengths of these two bolts that hold the shifter mechanism to the trans?

    trunk spare tire well

Doing some panel work this winter while doing the 4 speed swap, starting with passenger floor pan and the hump etc.. My trunk floor is solid except for the tire well. One bracket for the tank is a bit weak but not to the point of falling off, and there are a couple of poorly patched holes...

Lakewood BBM aluminum bell alignment ring question

The correct one in the kit is very tight on the trans side, and just as tight on the bell side. I have access to a lathe. I would think it would be best to machine the OD to fit snug, then tap it onto the trans side as I install. I don't want the bell side fighting me when I actually stab...

    440/Schumacher/Borgeson

Anyone have experience with this install with tri y's and a 440? Just ordered my kit from Summit, and just want to know of any pitfalls. Cannot handle the manual steering anymore, especially since I am converting to 4 speed

    Borgeson power steering kit

My 71 Duster has a 73 center link, idler and pitman with a manual box I bought from classic industries with no specific car listed. Hodgepodge that works if ya will. Its a 440 car and it was not a good idea to go manual, especially since I am converting to 4 speed right now I am getting very...

Shifter rod mod and input question

I had the local 'old school' trans guy look at my A833, decodes as 68 Dart with a 318, not that it matters, but its in great shape so just doing the basic rebuild dealio so its full steam ahead. I had toyed with trying to rebuild it myself, I have never had one apart so better go with the expert...

    What might it be worth?

Yes yes I know, been asked a million times. I love my Duster but one has come up locally that i think I need to own. 70 or 71, I don't think its an actual 340, believe it to be a 318. Newer paint, body is solid. I will get more pics if I actually get to see it and confirm rust free and what...

Strange shift points big block 727

So after great advice on here getting shifter adjusted, I have taken it for short drives. The converter is just a stock one from a 70's truck, no idea on specs/stall. Trans was new rebuild, no shift kit or mods I was told. Lokar kickdown/pressure cable that is adjusted to one to one movement...

    Drivers bucket seat 71 Duster

Bought a pair of buckets without tracks when I bought the car from same guy, was told they are A body but not from my car Bought tracks from the local Mopar harvester, they were labeled 73-76 Passenger side lined up perfect, seat sits perfect. Drivers side tracks were in bad shape, cut off...

Put my beaten up sharktooth grille on. Painted the bezels flat aluminum, pretty close…ish… put the Plymouth emblem on the hood. How does one snap the bottom clips into the car? I don’t want to break anything.. the valiant grille on there was the same, the clips were just resting in the car

I am putting the Schumacher torque strap kit on my 71. I really wish I had thought about this when the engine was out..... anyway.... When I hold the plate where it needs to be, it does not sit very well in that area. I am wondering if this is a 72 and older A body K member thing? Seems...

    Relay wiring for vacuum pump

Before I abandon my power brake setup, I am going to try some cheap amazon junk to see if it will operate with correct vacuum (my engine has 5 inches......of vacuum at idle), bought a generic hella pump and a vacuum switch. I need help with wiring... I believe a relay can have 85/86 reversed...

    Proportioning valve

My 71 duster has a leaky valve where the front main brake line goes in at the top. I’m going to double check that it’s not a flare issue with the brake line itself. It’s a disc/drum valve. I don’t see much available for Mopar valves, can a GM PV2 be used in its place?
