    Eagle Forged Stroker Crank CRACKED

Seems like similar vintage crankshafts have 4340 stamped over the part number for forged components. With the second set of numbers likely being a time stamp.

    Eagle Forged Stroker Crank CRACKED

You know, I guess that would make sense. Especially since this rotating assembly had Eagle I beams and Hypereutectic pistons. Would kinda jive a little more to have a cast crank with those other components. I will try to give Eagle a call tomorrow and inquire. I know the numbers are hard...

    Eagle Forged Stroker Crank CRACKED

I did notice there was a crack on the snout underneath the damper. Likely a month before I pull the engine and tear it down but I am anxious to see what I find. Better start shopping for dampers…..

    Eagle Forged Stroker Crank CRACKED

Aside from some marks as a result of interference with the water pump (assuming it occurred when the crankshaft became compromised and it wobbles) the damper looks fine to my eyes.

    Eagle Forged Stroker Crank CRACKED

Thats interesting. They market that particular damper for mild street builds up to 400hp. It seemed like I fell within that and while this motor has had some WOT pulls while tuning, it never over 5000rpm or demonstrated any strange vibrations. Its in a 6500lb full size truck 2000 Ram 1500 4x4.

    Eagle Forged Stroker Crank CRACKED

I will try and pull the motor in the next few weeks. Have to free up some engine stand space. This is the balancer I was using:

Is there any way Of checking is the damper is good or not?

    Eagle Forged Stroker Crank CRACKED

95% sure it’s forged…….I vaguely remember the part number and confirming it was forged but it’s possible it’s not.

    Eagle Forged Stroker Crank CRACKED

Great reply from an authority on the subject. I don’t think a forged crank should ever break under any circumstances on a build like this. Especially NA. I’d love a Molnar crank and may have to price out a rotating assembly.

    Eagle Forged Stroker Crank CRACKED

Pro Race Balancer. I haven’t pulled the motor yet but hopefully within the next week or two I can have it broke down and inspected. Aside from component defect, any thing else I should be looking for as a contributor?

    Eagle Forged Stroker Crank CRACKED

In full disclosure, this was a used crankshaft out of an engine that was put together in the early 2000s/late 90s. I did have it ground .10/.10 prior to using it. It was magnafluxed (supposedly) and fine.

    Eagle Forged Stroker Crank CRACKED

Built a 408 from a Magnum Platform a few years ago. Recently been running it and dialing in the tune and in doing so making some hard pulls. It was running really nicely then I noticed a knocking and a wobbly balancer. Of course I pulled the drain plug and found it full of metal. Pulled...

[SOLD] Stewart Warner Maximum Performance Gauge lot

Stewart Warner Maximum Performance Gauge lot. $95 shipped Removed these from a vehicle I purchased for the drivetrain. Only the transmission temp and oil pressure gauges had senders and we’re hooked up. I didn’t see the oil gauge pressure work and never drove the vehicle so I am unsure if the...

[FOR SALE] 1.6 Comp Roller Rockers for Magnum Heads

Yes Sir no worries, I have some hardened Comp 7634 pushrods. They are 6.950 in length. A little shorter than factory Magnum pushrods. They have some minor surface rust on them because I just have had them in a box out in the barn since I wasn't going to reuse them. I can certainly include...

Thoughts/opinions on Blueprint Engines 408 stroker crate engine?

Thats good to know, it could have easily been a miscommunication or misunderstanding on what was or is available at the moment. I appreciate the clarification and hope short blocks are available in the future! Thanks for clearing that up, good company representation!

[FOR SALE] 1.6 Comp Roller Rockers for Magnum Heads

I have some pushrods but don't know if they would be suitable for your application. Usually that's something you need to measure for to get the right geometry. Let me see what pushrods I have and I will PM you.

Thoughts/opinions on Blueprint Engines 408 stroker crate engine?

You might want to give them a call. I spoke to them about 3 months back and they had no plans to do any 408 magnum long or short blocks for the foreseeable future.

[SOLD] Harland Sharp Roller Rockers 1.7 Pedestal Mount

I was able to find 8 that had some form of defect on the roller. The rollers feel smooth and I wouldn’t hesitate running them as they are after looking them over really well. Might would get some 3000 to polish it a bit before hand. Tried to capture the best I could. The pedestal and fasteners...

[SOLD] Harland Sharp Roller Rockers 1.7 Pedestal Mount

S70037 Harland Sharp Roller rockers for magnum heads. These are new, not used but were mocked up. My build changed directions and required a new camshaft that needed 1.6 rockers. About half did develop minor surface rust on a portion of the roller. I suspect because I left them out in my...

    Magnum Cam Bearing Bores Scored

Seems to be 99-01 from what I have read on a lot of Dakota/Durango and Ram forums.

    Magnum Cam Bearing Bores Scored

It almost looks like a machine presses these in, or they are cast in place there is block casting metal that looks like it embedded in the backs of the bearings

HaHa. I have used that on some Briggs motors were the exhaust valve guide backed out. A little sleeve retainer, brass punch it back in, then peen around the guide.......nada problem since.
