    Bench to Bucket Conversion Advice

Ok keep me in mind, what color and condition is the vinyl in? Part of the appeal of the original posters was it matches the pearl white. Ha I'm probably weird for wanting to go from buckets to bench.

Did you get rid of your bench ? I'm actually looking to to the reverse, go from bucket to bench.

So did you have to unhook the headers, lift the engine, etc?

    Borgeson power steering kit

This may be a dumb idea, but could you get a tubing bender on it and turn it toward the box? Also how was the install, been thinking about doing the same but it's going to be a tight fit with the headers. Did you have to take the motor out or lift it up?

Picked a replacement up from carquest and they gave me the same looking one. I wonder if it's a catch all for several vehicles.

This is what's on it now, it looks like the first of the pictures you sent. The green wire that's clipped looks to be clipped on the other end too up by the firewall.

I can't get the image of the diagram to load, basically the only additional thing wired in now is the carb choke on the IGN side. The fan was wired into the FLD side.

Ok so I tested the regulator and it reads close to 12 at the battery and the IGN side with the key on. The FLD does register. The car is dead now and won't start, I'll get it on the charger. I'm thinking it has to be the regulator that's causing it not to charge right? Here's pics of the...

Ok which one of these would be the best option to just go back stock for now. Eventually, I want to convert to electronic since the alt is already in place and it seems like a conversion a lot make...

Hmm, you could be onto something. I wonder if the car sat for an extended period and developed what you are referring to. Both times the overheat happened was after i had been driving for 45 min+. I was going to flush it, but I wonder if I should get it flushed or just get a new one.

Thank you for the advice. So here's how my evening went, the alt voltage regulator must be fried because the battery didn't charge so I had to jump the car to get it back in the garage. Well another issue the previous owner didn't share was the broken hood hinge, car fired up, hood slammed onto...

Ok I'm going to grab a cap this evening. What I'm concerned about is I had power at the alternator regulator F side when the key was on and now I don't. This is how the fan was wired, it had a fused power wire that hooked into the F side. Fan stopped running and no power at that terminal.

Thank you, it runs at pretty good to find a place to pull over. When I was driving it home, which was about a 2 .5 hour drive, I texted the guy I bought it from and he said it always ran at the keep an eye on it mark for him (in the month he owned it). Like I said, I think the issue was never...

I don't and I must have gotten rid of my temp gun because I can't locate it. So the two times it got really hot on the dash gauge is when I was driving it back after I got it, mostly interstate, and when the wife and I took it into town. Typical stop light stuff, but open road as well, even...

I'm going to check all of these things starting with cleaning rad, checking the thermo, getting the right fan and possibly shroud and clutch. I might just go ahead and pull off the pump as well to see what blade it is. My guess is that the previous owners were having cooling issues, wired on an...

Thanks, I'm going to remove the electric fan and check into all the other things. I hope I didn't screw something up when I ran the fan on the F side of the alternator regulator because now I can't get any power through that side.

Is that chart saying that the pump pulley should be approximately 80% of the size of the crank pulley? I'll admit I'm in the weeds a bit, I've been out of working on cars for almost 15 years. Finally able to jump back in, but getting older and kids has my mind a bit foggy.

Thank you I will do that. Is the best place to get the thermo from Jegs/Summit etc. can't find the high flow at local places. The car unfortunately isn't a factory purple car, but the interior is white and the doors, jams, etc. have been painted purple. Actually haven't looked into the factory...

Thank you Thank you! So the non A/C cars had a larger pulley with the 8 blade pump. I should probably still get a better fan though it sounds like, possibly with a fan clutch. I'll check the thermostat and replace the cap.

I wondered that, Thank you for the advice! I'm searching for a pulley and fan, going to go ahead and do the thermostat as well and see how she runs then. Love your engine bay, very clean. I see the electronic ignition box, do you recommend that conversion? I think the alternator resistor is...
