    My award winning Duster/Monaro hybrid

I've been posting about the replica Mad Max car I've been building; based off a 1974 Duster. Since it is supposed to be an Australian Monaro, we've been calling it the Dustaro. Anyway, this past weekend I had the Dustaro at Wasteland Weekend in the Mohave desert. I won Best Replica Vehicle...

    Veterans On the Board

I served as an 0331/0352 in the Marine Corps from 1994-1998. I was stationed all over the world; most notably Kuwait and Iraq in 1998. Semper Fi!

    Demon and Dart owners?

Are there any Dart or Demon owners who wouldn't mind helping me out with some basic car info? I need the width of a 1974 Dart or 1974 Demon hood; at the top and the bottom. I'm building (another) Mad Max replica car. The original is an Australian 1971 Chrysler by Chrysler CH hardtop, but...

    Please help with kickdown linkage!

Yes, 2 barrel like I said. It's all stock as far as I can tell. The shifter is on the column.

    Please help with kickdown linkage!

I have a '74 Duster, 318 with a 2 barrel carb. It's all stock as far as I can tell. The shifter is on the column. The VIN is VL29G4G118725. The kickdown linkage was missing when I bought the car, and I've been trying to learn something and replace it myself. So far I'm $215 into this and...

Correct kickdown linkage for a '74 Duster?

Thanks. If I can't get some solid info I'll start looking for a shop manual.

Correct kickdown linkage for a '74 Duster?

My previous post was deleted... So my 1974 Duster (318 2 barrel) is missing the kickdown linkage. I've been researching it and I've seen different linkage types/shapes. Apparently there are different kinds of rods and different shapes of the part that is bolted to the engine block. So, how...

Custom Road Warrior front end for my Duster

Custom Road Warrior front end for my Duster

I hope so... around here (The Motor City) we have the Woodward Dream Cruise in August; miles and miles of classic cars driving around. I'm going to have it out for that, then it's on to Wasteland Weekend in California.

    1974 Duster t-top conversion

    Nah, I've already got those.

Custom Road Warrior front end for my Duster

I've been modifying my '74 Duster to appear as a Holden Monaro as seen in The Road Warrior. The biggest modification has been the front end. The grill is from a 40's Buick, the headlights are from a VW Bug, and the hood 'bump' is from an old Ferguson tractor. I started with a wire mesh frame...

    1974 Duster t-top conversion

T-tops done! I made my reinforcement/roll cage in two parts (left and right) out of 1 1/2 square tubing. I welded it together as much as I could before I put it in (not too easy welding inside the car) and completed the rest inside. The two halves are bolted together along the middle. Then I...

Best carburetor rebuild kit for a 318 two barrel?

I have a 318 with a two barrel and I'd like to rebuild the carb. What would you say is a good rebuild kit?

    1974 Duster t-top conversion

Well, if that's reasonable to you, more power to ya.
  27. Max_118

    1974 Duster t-top conversion

Those don't look anything like a Holden Monaro. If you can find an AU car that can be imported for a 'fairly reasonable' price, I'd like to hear about it. No, the movie car did not have glass inserts or seals. I won't either. I know it wasn't required to survive longer than filming required.
  28. Max_118

    1974 Duster t-top conversion

The Road Warrior had a Holden Monaro with t-tops. I'm not going to import an Australian vehicle, so the closest American car to that body style is a Duster.
  29. Max_118

    1974 Duster t-top conversion

Yep, it's going to be like that Monaro. If I had the cash I'd just import an Australian car, but I'd be looking at 10K just for shipping. That's just a little outside my budget! This will be something like the 10th Road Warrior 'replica' I've built. It's not going to be a daily driver, and...
