Awesome information thank you AJ.
So basically no point in using 1st or second OD because the Cobras will just get roasted. On hot day here maybe the Nittos could stick better.
so the only Benefit is getting from the Gv is just the 3rd OD on the highway.
so could save the $3000 and just run...
sorry forgot this thread was about my 67 cuda haha. It’s a slant 6 7.25 rear, will be easily able to change gears. All I could find are 4:10’s for that axle so I’ll be putting those in and report back
So with my t
So with my tire (26.6”), 373 gears I would be at 2750 rpm at 75mph. Not terrible, could go 355 but I think I’ll do 373 to get more acceleration.
i agree can’t compare it to a 6 speed, but I already have the 727 trans, so I’m thankful for the option.
Thanks for the help guys
Sorry man! So many numbers to try to keep track of haha
So will be running cobra Gt tires 80% of time and nitto 20% when weather is good.
Cobra size: 295 50r15 (26.6” tall)
Nitto size: 325 50r15 (27.8” tall)
gear vendor ratio is .78 is what I am reading.
what do you mean cruise speed? Like highway cruise speed. If so 70-72mph.
I originally ordered it (late Friday) because I wanted to run high gears like 3:73 or 4:10, and thought if I had a hood nitto 325 tire and could get it to stick I could have a hell of a launch.
Engine: blueprint engines 408 stroker.
BluePrint Engines Builder Series Mopar 408CI Stroker Crate Engine and 727 Auto Transmission | Small Block Chrysler | Roller Cam | Black Front Accessory Drive
Tires: 295 60r15 cobra & 325 nt555gii
should I just ditch the OD and go 3:23 gears?
Appreciate that! Would like to get this build right the first time without taking the Dana 60 out again to change gears haha.
yeah originally I was going to do a 4L80e built trans by Jake’s performance m, but didn’t want to cut up my tunnel that bad and Blueprint Warrenty covered there engine...
with 4:10 gears and over drive in in third gear OD would be equivalent to 2:78 gears ya?
4:10 gears would make my trans shift to much before reach even like 30mph would it? 727 3 speed auto. Sorry so many questions but with the Dana 60 I have to take the whole axle out to change gears so would...
yes it’s a /6. Out some new 225’s and 255 tires on it but havnt had a chance to drive it yet (newborn baby at the house).
Okay good idea I’ll check everything out with one of my buddies whose hood around sus.
haha I hope I didn’t make a stupid purchase. Makes sense to me to split 2nd and 3rd gear, have more range in the power band, higher gear for more acceleration and the OD to drop rpm ~600 on the highway.
Ordered a gear vendor today, was told to go 3:55 gears, but I was thinking higher since I was originally going to go 3:23 without gear vendor.
1974 duster

will be doing more street driving that track. Tires will be cobra Gt 295’s, but will also...
Hey guys,
looking for some cheap handling upgrades for my 67 cuda. Right now the steering is very loose and the suspension floats like a caddy. Would like to tighten up the steering and the suspension to get less body roll.
what would you change first, or is there a good “kit” out there?
that what I thought to! I have to rebuild the Dana 60 anyways. I was thinking 3:73 at least but the Nick @ gear vendor said 80% of people would run 3:55. Would 3:73 be to jumpy to drive in the street?
yup true!
got the gear vendor ordered up for my 74 duster!
Engine is BP 408 (465hp) Dana 60 end. Gear vendor recommended 355 gears, I was think 3:73 haha what do you think?
Motive gear who makes the only gears for 7.25 is discontinuing there line, so ended up having to buy one of there last 4:10’s.
Hope it not to steep! Glad it will add some pep to my /6, but I feel like it’s ganna shift 3 times before 25mph haha.
I also have a 408 stroker (465 hp) and was thinking of either running 323 gears or getting a Gearvendor and going 391’s.
going to be running a 295 tire, if I can brake traction easily with the 408 and the 323 I’ll just save the 3k, not doing to much high way driving.
What do y’all think?
perfect than sounds like 3:73 will be perfect choice for me than. Appreciate the help!
where do I get 3:73 gears for the 7.25, can’t find them online anywhere
