I completely agree with this! And that's why after years of plugging away at a couple Dodges I decided to buy a completely restored 70 Swinger. Some might think I paid too much for it, but they haven't a clue what it costs to build a car like mine.

Just to follow up, I see that the bypass switch is mechanically operated. I won't know until I can get to the car tomorrow, but I have a real clue as to the problem. Some where in it's life, the underhood A/C components were removed, but the underdash parts are there. There is a metal bracket...

Anyone have a hint here? (65 A body Dart) The heater blower works fine at all speeds when A/C or Max A/C is selected but does not work in Heat or Def positions. There is power to the vacuum switch at C1 and C1A as indicated in the diagram. No power to C4A. I replaced the A/C and heater vacuum...

I'm new to your forum. Can you help me find the thread where someone talked about using a magnetic switch. That makes sense to me and I'm sure I could design one, but I don't see a logical place to mount it with the column shift automatic. I really appreciate everyone's comments

Connected the vacuum cleaner and the flapper valves that divert air to the defrost, etc, moved, but the blower does not run in either heat or defrost. Seems strange to me that the blower would run with the A/C button pressed but not in heat or defrost. I'm thinkin that the new switch I installed...

I realize that the engine must be running to create vacuum, but are you saying that vacuum is needed at the switch for the heat and defrost to function?
