    Crane ductile iron rockers

I am looking at these, and wondering if you just use the springs between the rockers, or would you put a spacer to put between the rocker and spring? I see mopar performance offers some that are , .015 thick Thanks, Shane!

A boys first broken pushrod.... LOL

so am I! lol thanks! Can I set both intake and exhaust rocker at the same time, when the cylinder is on top dead center? Or do I have to spin it, and do each on its own?

A boys first broken pushrod.... LOL

I have a couple extra rockers, and as mentioned, I have the set of pushrods that came with the rockers. They look just short enough that a couple threads would need to come out of the rocker . The round end that goes the lifter seems to be just a little wider then the too long comp cams rods...

A boys first broken pushrod.... LOL

Oh I'm done with these monkies. I'm going to reslove this situation, get whatever I can for myslef from them and move on. Like I said, I have a set of shorter rods on hand, and/ or will buy new ones. I will pull the intake and double check the cam and lifters. If all is good , would I...

This place was referred to me. I'm really starting to think I should have looked around more.

A boys first broken pushrod.... LOL

Their response was that those were the only ones they could get for adjustable rockers. I've lost what ever faith I had in them today after talking to them. I have a set push rods that are shorter. Not a huge amount, butt the amount they are shorter, would give more clearance at the rocker...

Your right. And I have to wait for a push rod anyways, I should pull the intake and have a look.

Moper, you probaly right... But I just wasted my time measuring the broke one and another one, may not been the exact right way to measure it. They both moved the same though..

I'm thinking now that since I have it all apart , aslong as my cam is good, I might as well upgrade to some nice crane rollers as someone mentioned. It i did, I would I figure out what ratio I could use?

I agree with you. I remember that now from when I was working on my first engine... Stupid mistake on their part, and now they are making excuses

A boys first broken pushrod.... LOL

I have a manual , that agrees with all of you guys, that those shafts have to have the knotch facing down. Also, those are comp cams push rods, I have an old set of push rods that came with the adjustable rockers and shafts. They are silver in colour , not black, and are shorter. by eye about...

So they pulled the rockers today. the shaft was upside down on the drivers side, but everything seems ok. the passenger side has the broken pushrod, and one more ball on the adjuster that looks to be burned and dry. They wanted to pull the intake to check the cam, but are going to give...

A boys first broken pushrod.... LOL

It has to be Tuesday, because it's a holiday up here in Canada on Monday. I am not happy about this, but I did bring those rockers to the builder.. He bought the cam I wanted and then ordered pushrods that were supposed to be right, and then installed the shaft wrong... Since I'm goin to be...

A boys first broken pushrod.... LOL

I looked, the other side has the grove on the shaft back at the firewall, BUTT, it too is facing up. Does having that shaft upside down cause te lack of oil that caused it to break? Rusty, do I need just crane rockers? And they go on those shafts?

A boys first broken pushrod.... LOL

Where would I get shims? It seems that I can inspect everything, make sure both shafts are facing the right direction, install one new push rod, and be back on the road fairly cheaply.... And then get some pointers how to set the valve lash of course...

How do I figure out for myself what length pushrods are supposed to be in there? So I know before I go have a chat with them first thing Tuesday morning..

A boys first broken pushrod.... LOL

Are you kidding!??? So you think that simply not enough oil was getting to the rocker and it dug into the pushrod, then snapped off when it touched the rocker!?!! Like I mentioned. I have spare shafts and a few extra rockers... Maybe all I'll have to do is inspect everything and buy one new...

Mike , that's what I was thinking when I put them in... The shop put in comp cams push rods... Should I just get the right length ones from Chrysler? What push rods are you running? Thanks!

A boys first broken pushrod.... LOL

I have a few extra rockers, but I'm not opposed to changing them out for something better. What would I order? Does crane sell a whole shaft that bolts right up on my head?

A boys first broken pushrod.... LOL

They do kinda look deep in there... They are comp cams rods and mopar rockers... The car has been running good, I guess I should go back and question the machine shop about it...

Hey all... I'm broken down, and am just hoping its simply a busted push rod, tow her home and put a new one in.. What happened: The car , 340, comp cams 268, 750 double pumper, .40 over, 2000 miles on a new build , has been running top notch. I haven't really got on it too hard, just...

Sorry, I should have been more clear... I ordered the derale switch, the one that comes with the temp sender you push through the fins of the rad. I'm just not sure where I should pick up an ignition wire from under the hood...

    Electric cooking fan...

I am adding an electric cooking fan , where is the best spot to connect an ignition source wire under the hood? Is it a good idea to splice into the wire on the starter relay? Thanks!

dropping the oil pan with motor in car

Thanks for all the replies guys!!! I was mostly scared and figured I'll wait til the end of the season, and just yank it out. Jack, you just popped out your centerlink, did the pan come all the way out? Or did you just have it drop down enough to clean everything and real it with new gaskets...

dropping the oil pan with motor in car

Hey all... I have been trying to ignore the leaking oil from the back right (big) and back left of my oil pan. 340, factory pan, headers. My question is, for you that have dropped the pan , cleaned and installed a new gasket , with the engine in the car and the car on jack stands, how...

    All in timing question.

Aren't the blue springs lighter then the heavy silver! Doesn't a lighter spring bring it in sooner?
