    Post Soda Blasting surface prep

Years ago I had a 49 Merc all chopped and channeled a real lead sled so we got the bright idea to sand blast not media blast the entire body my friend lay down a killer gloss black paint job that looked 20 miles deep and I pinstriped the snot out of it, the car drew a crowd at every show even...

    Post Soda Blasting surface prep

The surface is blown clean with air and wiped down with a tack rag if you really want to see a disaster chemically strip a car and have residue seep out of little places and destroy a paint job

    Post Soda Blasting surface prep

Thanks I just got off the phone with my local guy who I thought used soda but he told me he uses ground glass, he said basically all one needs to do is wipe it down with a pre-cleaner and epoxy prime it, and what makes it even better he is less than half the price of dustless blasting

    Post Soda Blasting surface prep

I know there have been a few post regarding soda blasting removing paint but not rust that I am fully aware of but a few guys mentioned that there are issues with the residue left behind effecting paint adhesion. I normally would send it to my power coating guy who also does media blasting. He's...

    AVS vs AFB

a little correction is needed it is actually an Edelbrock performer not an original AFB but close enough I did a little experiment the other day with soda blasting and both carbs cleaned up real nice now to drop them in the Berryman carb cleaning bucket I am leaning towards the AVS but will...

    AVS vs AFB

The Poison Dart came with an AVS on a 340 intake manifold the engine appeared to run nice with the exception of a small miss nothing a tuneup couldn't fix, but the carb is really kind of scummy on the outside and they are generally a simple carb to rebuild, but I have several AFB's sitting...

    Clear coat or not

I've got an over the top powder coating guy finally after doing this way too many years, so the game plan is just leave it as is for the summer hopefully it will be derivable by the end of August just so he get a little enjoyment out of it before I do the major tear down and remove and reseal...

    Clear coat or not

Yes I could tell when I picked it up that they used a coarse media I was in touch with my powder coating guy today and unfortunately there is a 2 week turn around time but he will try and push it through. I know all about off gassing as I do a lot of tig welding and depending on the size of the...

    Clear coat or not

Picked up this aluminum intake for my son't Dart paid $50 for it and a local auto body shop blasted it for $50 so not bad for $100 total investment. My question for you guys is does anyone clear coat their aluminum manifold or leave them bare. It seems the factory finish on a new out of the box...

    A Team Performance

Yeah as much as I hate to say it a lot of the big names like Mallory , Holley etc are using stuff manufactured in China not all but some,I'll have to ponder this one some times a deal that seems too good really isn't

    A Team Performance

Has anyone had dealing with A Team Performance? if so what are your thoughts both good and bad they offer an electronic ignition distributor, coil and wire set on Amazon for $120 It appears to be a clone of a Chrysler electronic distributor but all of the electronics are internal. I had intended...

Looking to upgrade 69 Dart wiring

Thanks for the input guys as always very much appreciated, I spent all of yesterday moving and rehearing cars and equipment in my shop so I can make room for the Dart to finally get into the heavy work, one task is to inspect the dash wiring, one option I thought about was running a painless...

Looking to upgrade 69 Dart wiring

I would say not so much labor intensive as it is tedious wiring is something I find very easy to do always have and have gotten to be quite good at it simply because I enjoy it, I just say to guys who are really hesitant if you can read a road map ( yeah dating myself) then you can read a...

    What Intake gasket

So what would your guess be go with the 272 intake set to match the heads or the 340 to match the intake I discussed it with my machinist the other day abut had a brain fart

Looking to upgrade 69 Dart wiring

Yes I found them last night seems like nice stuff kind of pricey but its something you can't compromise on that being said I will be cleaning the original harness up for a closer look

    What Intake gasket

That explains why the engine and engine bay was a greasy mess apparently there is no hole in the 340 cast iron intake so it would bottom out on the pins and not make a proper seal both front and rear as I say the level of butchery continues

Looking to upgrade 69 Dart wiring

They are very well thought out and nicely made a bit more money than Painless but its seems at least to me that you get a more detailed kit

Looking to upgrade 69 Dart wiring

During the tear down of the engine compartment I removed the wiring harness and evaluated it and much like the rest of the car it too was victim of butchery , nothing new on a car this old as I am sure your all aware of, so I have been looking at OEM style under hood wiring harness to keep that...

    What Intake gasket

I am replacing the cast iron with an aluminum intake, one the ends were rubber gaskets the were indexed by a small pin in the front and rear
  22. Brian Arcella

    What Intake gasket

Ok so I solved the mystery of the intake manifold on my son's Dart best I can ascertain is that the engine is a 273 which I had suspected and by running the casting numbers as well as measuring the intake ports the intake is a cast iron 72-74 340. The engine ran fine I know its not "correct" is...

    Header install 69 Dart

Well hurting the rear which = a rear end swap to an 8 is not what I want or need right now, I have a narrowed Dana 60 sitting in my shop from my gasser but that would translate into $1000 in the blink of an eye so as big a fan of Roadkill that he is he'll be burnoutless for a long time

    Header install 69 Dart

Well this is my soon's first car and its just a cruiser with a rear the size of the one in my garden tractor not to many burnouts in its future. It has headers on it now and from what I've been seeing may be cheaper to go with headers that stock manifolds I'll make up my mind soon I think

    Header install 69 Dart

    Header install 69 Dart

Well not like I expected this to be a cream puff but I crawled under the Dart this morning in an attempt to find the engine numbers and found the driver side header tubes smashed falter than day old beer, so a couple of newbie A body questions for you guys. A. how hard are they to install I am...

Updating the wiring harness on the 69 GT

Ok so like many of you the wiring harness on tie car is another example of the level of Butchery, house wiring nuts and wires wrapped around terminals etc. So I am planning on all new harnesses for up front at least for now. I have used painless and American autowire in the past on hot rods...
