    The 8 1/4 thread

Hi guys, i'm in the middle of a proces, trying to get my 7.25 diff working again, but i realize it will be temporary. What i really need is i nice and simple 8.25 rear axle with 2,71 gears. I have a Dart from 1964 with a 318 in it and use it just for cruising, so low rpm's is the goal... Does...

That looks like a very good solution! Would you know a nice one for sale? What I also like is are the 25 spline (in which my axles would probably fit) and the 2.77:1 which give my car the nice 1800 rpm at 60 mph...

What 8.25 rear axle fits my 1964 Dodge Dart best?

Hi there, it seems my 7.25 diff is shot and there are just no replacement parts. Next to that, i replaced the 273 in my car for a 318 and it would be better to replace the complete rear axle for one with a 8.25 diff. Which is the one to go looking for?

    Spider gears

Okay, but actually I use the carrier of a 10-bolt (I just realized), so then the spider gears will fit the carrier. But will the carrier fit the diff housing of the 9-bolt?

    Spider gears

Well, actually I want to change my 2.93 gear for a 2.76 that I bought from a 1978 Dodge Diplomat. I'm not sure if that's possible. So if anyone knows if a 2.76 ring and pinion will fit a 9-bolt diff of 1964, that would be interesting to know too. I don't know if the 1978 diff is a 9 or 10-bolt...

    Pitman and idler arm issues

Hi there, My mechanic mounted a Ford T9 gearbox (5-speed) in my '64 Dart with V8. And all goes well except for one thing. The rear end of the engine sits a tiny bit lower than usual and now the steering link hits the starter motor just a bit. We tried to lengthen the Pitman and idler arm but...

Engine stops after releasing the gas pedal

Thanks for al the replies! We use the carburetor of the 273 and we cleaned and adjusted it right. There is no vacuum leak, checked that too. We will have to check the compression before and directly after it dies. We have the impression it has something to do with the hydraulic valves that stay...

Engine stops after releasing the gas pedal

Hi there, we just finished a 318 engine build: 1977 318 block, 1964 crankshaft, heads and intake manifold. We decided to use the hydraulic cam, lifters and rocker arms of the 318. I runs very fine and if you give it a little throttle it revs up easy. But if you take your foot of the pedal, it...

    273 heads on a (1977) 318 block

I thought i was aware of the different bolt angle and in my mind it were the bolts of the heads. Later on i realized that it's about the bolts that are in the intake manifold. Well, that's what i think now. That would be no problem because i plan to use the 64 intake manifold as well as the 64...
