    Fender channel help

I decided, since it is my first time rehabilitating a fender, to drill out the spot welds and take the thing apart. I got the channel off last night and it looks like it will clean up decently. My plan is to get the other pieces off and take everything to an auto skill shop at my employer and...

    Fender channel help

What does everyone do with this channel on the back of the front fender? I know it is rusty inside. I think it has two spot welds at the bottom and fits under the lip of the fender. Thanks much for any advice from the more experienced people !

    Small Block Showroom!

This is the 1970 318 in my Dart. As a kid, I set it up with a competition cams 268H, single plane intake and Holley 750, and 360 J heads. Not the optimal combination for power, but it was still fun. Hopefully I get it running again!

1970 Dodge Dart - Got the passenger fender off, looks pretty good!

Today I got the passenger fender off the car. My plan is to bead blast it, repair one dent that it has and epoxy prime it. There is some surface rust in there, but I didn't see anything awful.

Two Barrel to Four Barrel Upgrade?

I've done this deal also, with a Holley 600 cfm vacuum secondary on a 70 Dart 318 that was stock except for headers and dual exhaust. I used a Weiand single plane intake when I put the 4 barrel carb on as well. I found that the 4 barrel required about the biggest accelerator pump shot...

1970 Dodge Dart - Got the passenger fender off, looks pretty good!

Most or all of the grille and valence panel fasteners are pretty rusted and a few broke off when I removed them. Has anybody used the YearOne fastener kit? It would be great to go back with all new fasteners if they're good quality and will last.

1970 Dodge Dart - Got the passenger fender off, looks pretty good!

Continuing with the paint sanding project, I have the passenger side sanded up to the front fender. There is an auto skills shop with a bead blaster where I work, so my plan is to take parts in with me and strip them that way. Here is today's progress. The plastic grill is in great shape with...

1970 Dodge Dart - Got the passenger fender off, looks pretty good!

I was looking back through the thread and realized I forgot to add the rust perforation picture. No worries, it looks the same as it did last fall. I've got the entire passenger side sanded now though, and this is the only rotten place there is. There are a couple of dents to tap out though...

1969 Race Dart w/ 426 Hemi- garaged for 45+ years

Wow, what a mind-blowing find! Thank you so much for sharing it. That is truly an amazing car.

    Saving 71 Demon...

Wow. That's a heavy project! For a mild engine build, what do you think about the 904 Torqueflight instead of the 727? It's what my 1970 318 Dart came with, and its a smaller and lighter unit that is plenty strong for the job. Truth be known though, I'm slipping a 200-4r into mine for the...

    China welding machines

What do you more experienced guys think about the Eastwood 140 machine, priced at just under $400? I need to weld some sheet metal patches for my Dart project. It has the dial settings for current and wire feed, has the gas regulator and comes with a few accessories. 3 year warranty. Good...

1970 Dodge Dart - Got the passenger fender off, looks pretty good!

Maybe it could be B5 that weathered and sun faded? I pulled that front corner from a wrecked car in the 1980’s, so it was 15 years old paint when it got painted over.

1970 Dodge Dart - Got the passenger fender off, looks pretty good!

Todays fun with the orbital sander on the passenger quarter revealed a couple of small rust perforations just behind the rear wheelwell. The bad spot looks to be about the size of a quarter or just a little bigger. I will add the picture tomorrow.

1970 Dodge Dart - Got the passenger fender off, looks pretty good!

Thanks. I've never seen a B3 car in person. In a lot of the pictures, they almost look like there's a little bit of a greenish or aqua tint to it. This little spot is a sky blue with no hint of green whatsoever.

1970 Dodge Dart - Got the passenger fender off, looks pretty good!

Does anybody know if this color is B3 or B5 blue? It is on a piece that I pulled from another car decades ago and is the color that we want to make the whole car this time.

I got epoxy primer laid down on the roof over the weekend. I mixed up a quart and had a bit less than a half left over after I got finished. I will probably strip and epoxy the passenger side next. That was the first thing I have painted since the 1990's, so I'm glad it was just a primer layer.

After some delay, I’m ready to epoxy primer the roof. How much paint should I mix up for that?

1970 Dodge Dart - Got the passenger fender off, looks pretty good!

Today's fun was dealing with the passenger side drip rail. There was some rust in the bottom of the channel and some body filler where the seam goes. It looked like somebody put a bead of bondo in there with their finger at some point. I used a heat gun and metal pick to get the bondo out...

1970 Dodge Dart - Got the passenger fender off, looks pretty good!

Yeah, the windshield didn't give me too much grief, but I'm not sure what was going on with the back one. I know the windshield trim has been off before, but I bet the rear trim hasn't. That might have been the difference. I finally got enough clips off to get the halves to separate and was...

Tonight the trim ring on the back glass totally beat me. I didn’t get a single clip to release using the tool I bought from Amazon. Anybody have any advice?

Thank heavens for no road salt in Alabama! The only rust perforation I've found so far is in the battery tray. The trunk floor looks good and the floorpans at least don't have any holes in them.

Last night I was successful, after a fight, in getting the windshield trim ring removed. I had purchased the tool and watched a few youtube videos showing how to do it. Tonight I hope to tackle the rear window trim.

That is the most beautiful example of the interior I have ever seen. I have the same green interior in mine, but it is totally shot. Yours looks like mine looked way back in the day. My original exterior was the Citron Mist, by the way, so it went pretty well with the green. Man that...

1970 Dodge Dart - Got the passenger fender off, looks pretty good!

Made a little bit more progress tonight. The passenger side drip rail is off. I used a paint stirrer and a small hammer to tap it off bit by bit the way the youtube guy recommended. It took about half an hour to get it, but it came off without damage.

1970 Dodge Dart - Got the passenger fender off, looks pretty good!

That's pretty much what I intend to do. The dirt dobber nests don't bother me much; the wasps are a lot more aggressive. I killed all of them that I could find, but there might be another few hiding in there somewhere.

Here are a couple of pictures of the engine bay. I've never seen so many dirt dobber nests in my life. There were about 6 wasp nests in there as well. I managed to get the hood up without being stung, so that's a plus!
