Mine on my 408 with small cam is total 34 degrees at 2500 rpm...if yours does not ping or detonate and does not kick back on starter..you are fine. More initial gives better low end and mid range torque. In the past I have seen guys set the timing initial at 10 or 12 degrees thinking all is...

I really love the low end torque of the 408. At present I have highway gears..plan to go on some long trips and cruises....but earlier had 3.91..big difference...:)

One of my favorite pics..

Dennis with Firm Feel gave me the correct part number for a 73 duster with manual steering with the small shaft Moog K7075...the box I used came from a 65 valiant with small shaft and only 50,000 miles. The moog k7075 is exactly the same shape as my power steering pitman with the large shaft...

Anyone have a set of single groove pulleys for my 73 duster small block? A double groove crank would be okay but need single for water pump.

Just a thought...if you have power brakes...the bigger the cam ...the less vacuum idling in gear which affects brakes.

Anyone have a set of .890 or .920 bars reasonable? I believe the numbers are 894 and 895 for the .890 set.

How hard is it to get a power steering box off my 73 duster? What all has to be removed and does it come out from the bottom by starter?

Sometimes it is really hard to get the convertor to fall in the front pump..try standing the tranny in a upright position and gently tap on the conv...it worked for me...it can sometimes be hard to lift up on the conv and make it go in the pump.
