Hello again,
Time has passed and it is about to be time I will have to junk it. Please PM with what you may want taken off of the car (preferable to have you come get it yourself) but anyway, PM me with what you want and what you consider to be a fair offer.
I can't name prices as I have...
If there is any interest in anyone wanting parts from the car as opposed to taking the entire car, please inquire with what you might want and an offer for it.
I can't do delivery/mailing parts. All inquires should be for you to come get the parts yourself.
Hello.
On Friday I was involved in an accident in my 1975 Dodge Dart. A woman turned left in front of me and it was everything I could do not to T-Bone her.
Anyway that's how the damage happened to the car. Prior to the accident it was my daily driver for the last year and a half. I would...
blue, if you do decide to do a bumper tuck heres an idea of what it will look like, i did it with my 75 bumper. removed the inner supports and did some creative mounting.
i dont know if this will help you make a desicion but there you go
Probably for me the three would be -
1) that i have to sit in my car and warm her up for about 4 minutes before i take off... and i live in southern california where its never cold
2) where the distributor is located on my dart. On my *cough*Ford*cough* its in a much easier location to mess...
thanks guys for the pictures.
im lookin forward to tryin my hand at it, first the maverick, then my brothers dart, then mine, then if i get good enough, my dads 48 special deluxe
hmm that is interesting, havnt ever heard of anything like that, sounds interesting though
i would wonder if the paint wouldnt look as deep though that way, who knows
yah thanks guys for all the great advice and what not, this is really becoming a great thread on here.
when i can get a compressor and gun, (and the body work done) i will be givin u all my own experiances.
thanks guys, i appreciate the advice, fish eye eliminator, i didnt know about that, good to know, i think im going to have to register at moparts to see that thread, guess i shoud do it
any other bits of advice anyone?
yah im definitly not going to spray rustoleum, those were roller jobs and thats where rustoleum will stay.
i am looking at buying single stage enamal from somewhere, havn't quite figured out where yet.
if anyone has any advice on how many gallons of compressor i need, or how much horsepower...
I have done the rustoleum thing, and ive seen some decent results. Good enough for driving around and just enjoying, not show or anything. But anyway to the point.
I am considering buying a paint gun and compressor and trying my hand at painting. I have about 3 or 4 cars that could use a paint...
the roof of my car was terrible, first thing i did was use a chisel to get rid of all the bumps of loose rust/metal, then i sanded it all down, then i used naval jelly, then fixed holes with metal and jb weld, then body filler for the rest.
to anyone who has participated in this thread, thanks a bunch, they are both installed new, and she is driving with no vibration, also shifting into reverse and drive smoothly.
Once again, thanks
ugh, a bit frustrated, the driveshaft is out, i have my manual for the car, and it says to remove clips and what not, but the part of the ujoint attached to the driveshaft itself does not want to remove itself.
i am dismayed because the front looks like it will be the same bit problematic, is...
well i have the driveshaft unhooked from the car, i need to detatch the ujoint so i can bring it into autozone, they say they have 2 sizes of ujoint for the car, so i wanna make sure i get the right one.
havin trouble gettin the ujoint detatched from teh driveshaft
Ok, i just went out there and tried what you said, i was able to turn it a bit to both sides, and it clunked each way. Guess that means i need to do new u-joints. Will chain auto stores carry them? Pep Boys, Kragan, and Autozone are all near by. Also should i be able to change these on my own...
When i am out driving, if i get above about 40 miles an hour, i get this heavy drone/vibration in the car. With the windows up it feels like your head is going to implode on the freeway. So i stopped driving it on the freeway. Turns out i have to do some freeway driving tomorrow so i want to fix...
i have a 75, which is the same with the point and all.
i myself prefer the 72 and wanted to do the swap, however it just hasnt presented itself in a cheap manner.
if u do decide to stay with teh 73, there are some things u can do.
if u remove the bumper u can remove the heavy metal support to...
thanks for the compliments guys.
First is first in tucking them, i removed the bumper and took our the 50 pound or so support from inside it.
***WARNING***
i bellive the changes i made have definitly taken away from the saftey features of the front bumper, keep this in mind.
Now after doin...
Well i have fully removed the vinyl top, closed all the holes from the trim, got the roof smooth, and put some primer on it.
then i decided to take off the bumper guards to give it a little smoother look
then the real fun began
I decided to fix up my grill and do a bumper tuck. Its a 75...
yah, that might be an option yet. i guess taking an 1/8 of an inch off wouldnt be too bad. i dont know, i might just start the search again, and paint the steelies gloss black in the meantime. i got a whole lot goin on today on it already.
gonna push the front bumper in, and primered the roof...
