    Favorite Big Block Roller Rockers

I also run these on Eddy heads with Hughes hold downs. Running a small street solid roller(.570 lift/250 duration@.050) 200ish psi on the seat and 500ish open. Street toy that's been together for 8-10 yrs with zero issues. Lash checks fine whenever I check it(which reminds me..I should pull the...

470 SFT cam recommendation (I searched!)

I've heard the stories as well and lost that lobe on the SFT but the roller has been fine. The sft that I lost was a good number of years ago and the roller has been trouble free since. Just threw it out there as an idea of specs. that worked well in my 470"

470 SFT cam recommendation (I searched!)

My 470 is 10.2:1 w/OOTB Edelbrock heads. I originally put it together with this Comp solid(this was years back) Xtreme Energy 244/252 Solid Flat Cam and Lifter Kit for Chrysler 383-440 It ran OK but I ended up losing a lobe off that cam so I said screw it, spent the money and put this solid...

Running Main Bearing Inserts To use A 383 Journal Crank In a 440 Block

I worked on a dirt sportsman car pit crew years ago. We ran that set-up to create 377". We beat that thing HARD every week. I saw him skip it through the infield and the telltale tach showed over 9k! Never skipped a beat. One of the fastest cars in the field every week.

    Safe to bore a 383 60 over?

I have no idea what compression ratio was...I'll guess pretty low. Crap cast pistons with thrown together 906 heads. Maybe 8:1?? It sounded great but never really made much power. I'm also comparing it to the low deck 470 roller cam deal that's in it now so......

    Safe to bore a 383 60 over?

I have a 383 that's .060 over. I threw it together with crap laying around the shop hoping it would stay together for a couple years.Dingle ball hone, crap cast rings, knurled guides, 484/284 Mopar cam. Beat that thing for almost 20 years...lol. Didn't make a ton of power but never even flinched...

Big Block Plug wires with Victor Heads angled plugs

Make your own. I'm still running the wires I put together in the 90's. Taylor wire, ends, boots etc. 470" Eddy heads, stock dist. CPPA headers.

    Trickflow trackheat or performer rpm

Yep! My little 10:1 470 with Eddy heads, a bigger solid roller and RPM intake made 500 ft lbs from 3k all the way up to 5k on a chassis dyno. MORE than enough to put a smile on your face!

Reducing body roll. SS springs, sway bar, or both?

I have a 69 B'cuda w/a BB and 4 spd. I run .990 bars, frame connectors, SS springs(frt hangers flipped) and Hellwig bars (frt and rear) 255/15 rear and 225/15 frt. Tires clear fine and the car drives/handles fantastic. Try the Hellwig bars.....excellent company with fantastic customer support!

    70340 swinger front sway bar.

Hellwig without a doubt. I have their front and rear on my 69 Bcuda. I had a couple questions on the rear install so I called. A real person answered the phone....they then connected me to a real person who had actually done the install and knew EXACTLY what I was asking about. Excellent product...

Which A-bodies do big blocks fit best in?

Agree 100% Well worth it! The headers are a pain for sure(I use CPPA,very similar to the TTIs out there now.) My little 470" will put a big smile on your face for sure. A little bit of chassis work(sway bars, frame connectors) and they handle/drive just fine.

440 break in noise from timing cover....we think....be gentle!

Sorry..no experience with either of those sets. Door number 1 is single bolt and #2 is a 3 bolt. I would think if #1 required the bearing it would be included but again ...no personal experience. I saw the bearing get left out on a BB build...allowed the cam to move and lost a couple lobes. I'm...

440 break in noise from timing cover....we think....be gentle!

With your fancy dancy roller chain was there a Torrington bearing setup that needed to go behind the cam gear? If so..did it get installed....and correctly? Just thinking out loud here.

Any advice on my 440 recipe?

I agree. I have 3:73s in my B'cuda...at 60mph It's a tick under 3000 rpm. Would I want to do that for 8 hrs? Likely not. But running around country roads etc it's perfectly comfortable

    Cam & Timing Set Questions

I lost a Comp SFT after approx 800 miles....my buddy lost a Mopar SFT after many thousand miles. Cam recommendation needed

I run a very similar setup in my 69 B'cuda. 470" low deck at 10.2:1 compression. RPM heads, same intake,800 Holley DP, 4spd and a 3;73 rear. I'm using a Comp Street solid roller..XR280R. Idles nicely at 900 rpm, makes good low end, pulls HARD through the middle. I always say it rpms like a chain...

1972 Duster , lower control arm sway bar brackets

I put Hellwig front and rear bars on my 69 B'cuda. Love the way it handles! I had a couple questions about the rear install so I called them. Comp Cam/lifter failure

Agree. My Comp had about 800 mi on it(followed all the normal flat tappet routines, not my 1st flat tappet build by any means, Brad Penn oil, 2k for 20min, checked lifter rotation, etc, etc,) My buddies Mopar had 20k+ mi. on it. Why would it crap the bed after that many miles? Not sure about the...

    Comp Cam/lifter failure

I lost a Comp SFT, my buddy lost a Mopar SFT after many years/miles. I went Comp solid roller, he went with the same SFT Comp that I lost. Zero issues with either. Neighbor lost a hyd GM perf cam in an SBC and another buddy lost a Ford cam in his SBF. It's not just Comp.

Proposed 400 bb build, cam recommendations

Not really sure what's available now. I put my 470" together a number of years ago and I used a Manley 6.760 rod w/BBM big end and .990 pin. The piston is from Diamond but I believe they considered it a semi-custom deal. Not really a custom piston at that time. Worked out great!

I run Comps XR280R(242/248@.050, .570/.576) in a 10.2:1 470" street toy. Idles nicely at 900 with a decent lope. Makes plenty of low end and pulls hard through the middle.

    Eliminating elephant ears, changing headers

Every time a piston goes on the intake stroke it creates a low pressure area(vacuum).....doubtful an engine starts and runs with 2' vacuum. Stock style engines create 17-21" at idle. My engine with an aggressive roller cam creates 12". Try another port like the big one connected to a PCV or...
