    Speedo Assist

Thanks guys. The speedo cable is brand new and I checked it for lube before installation. All good. The rear end is a 7 1/4 stock. Original tire size I will need to find. If you know the base gear ratio for a 7 1/4 I'd appreciate knowing. This is my first Duster so I am a babe in the woods and...

This is about a 1975 Duster, 225 cid and a 904 Automatic Trans. Had my speedo start making noise and bouncing all over. Replaced speedo. Didn't help so replace cable. worked for a bit then back again. All that is left is the speedo drive gear. Can anyone tell me the proper number of teeth...

    Catalytic Converter

This isn't about an emissions issue. This is an Arizona car, located in Maricopa county so it is under the 67 and later emissions rules. I am contemplating a bigger engine, headers and don't want the hassle of the cats. This is my first post 72 car and am gathering input. bv

    Catalytic Converter

Like to throw this out for opinion as the Internet is as contradictory as my wife. Can anyone definitively tell me the first year catalytic converters became mandatory. I have researched they first appeared in 75, but were not mandatory until 76. Then I see anything 75 and on they are...

    Zinc Additive

Looking for input about the need to put zinc additive into the oil of a Slant6. Primarily people that have not and what experience they have had with engine problems, or those that have and can give me some suggestions on the best brand of oil/additive to support the need. Appreciate your...

    Zinc Additive to Oil

Just had an engine rebuilt and was told I had to add a Zinc additive to the oil (permanently). This is due to the flat tappett design (so they say). This being my first slant I need to know if this is myth or fact. Appreciate the input.

    Simplifying My Life

Trying to simplify the vacuum requirements on my Duster. I have noted a bunch of CA equipment and other bits that I believe I could remove and still operate fine. Wanting to know if anyone else has done the same. Specifically, if I plan to ditch EGR and the charcoal canister, do I still...

    General Slant 6 Input Required

For PowerWagonPaul Appreciate the thread. I understand the vaporization benefit, but is it really that much more noticeable running, once the manifold temp conductively stabilizes with the block. To the point that you would need supplemental heating. I'm not questioning your knowledge...

    General Slant 6 Input Required

I'm down at 39th Ave and Thunderbird. It's a 75 Duster. Will be my daily driver when I am in town. So I am looking for gas mileage and a bit of zip. If I can squeeze out 125 - 150 HP I'm OK with that. I am just brainstorming but what I would like to do is: Upgrade to a 2BBL, so I am...

    General Slant 6 Input Required

I am a newbie with the slant and have been looking at the posts. Enlightening. If I want to upgrade my exhaust, do I truly need EGR? Cold weather operation is not my issue (Phoenix). Headers vs. Dutras? Appreciate the input.

    318 Conversion to EFI

I am interested in exploring what it might take to convert a 318 I am rebuilding to incorporate EFI. I'd like to find a kit that gives me a simple "turn-key" installation. Is there such a supplier? Has anyone out there tried this? Potential pitfalls? Look forward to hearing the...

8.75 Rea End Disc Brake Conversion

I goofed and loaded my post into the general forum by mistake. Sorry! I am rebuilding an 8.75 and want to go to disc brakes. Trying to save some green and avoid pricey aftermarket kits. Heard a Jeep rear end disc setup will bolt on. Is this true? If so, what year(s) Jeep would be applicable...

I am currently rebuilding an 8.75 rear end and want to convert to disc brakes. In these econimic times I am looking for alternatives to the high $$$ aftermarket kits. I had heard that a Jeep disc brake setup will bolt on. I am looking for confirmation of this. If true, what year(s) of Jeep...

    A Body 8.75 Rear End

The conversion kit I am looking at will run about $1300. If I can get a rear end with all this already done, I'll seriously entertain the thought. Since I want this car to have some balls, but still be a good daily driver I thought the 3.23 gears would suffice. What are you asking for your...

    Power to Manual Conversion

What year/model master cylinder did you use? I may have crap sources, but no seems to be able to give me a straight answer. The proportioning valve I will probably get from JEGS. They have a very nice adjustable knob type. I have had aquaintances that have used it with excellent results.

I have a 72 Demon that came with power brakes. (Front disc, rear drum). I am converting to a big bolt pattern and will be installing an 8.75 rear end to convert to full disc. I want to convert to manual brakes to clear some room in my engine compartment. Has anyone done this conversion? I am...
