    Hemi piston slap?

Hi all So for you guys who have done modern Hemi swaps I have a question -- Have you had any issues with cold start piston slap noise in stock Hemi engines? I own a 2012 Ram with the 5.7 hemi...owned since new....and since about 3-4k miles it started making a loud "diesel like" low end...

    Slant 6 Interest

Hi and thanks. Yeah, we did use those bolts. At the factory they actually used a special lift plate with two holes...one for the engine without the trans on it and one with, and got the right balance front to rear I am told. We didn't have the plate so just used chains attached to a tilt...

    Slant 6 Interest

I have had my 72 Barracuda with a tweaked small block for 6 years or so.....we take it to many shows and cruises......over the years I have found myself passing by the "usual suspects" and being drawn towards oddities....and frankly the slant 6 fits that. We just got my son his first car back...

    Manifold heat control valve.

No expert but that looks right to me based on our current project......when the spring heats up the flapper should direct the exhaust flowdown and out.....cold, its "vertical", directing exhaust up into the hot box. did you replace your spring or refurbish what you have? Ours broke and...

    Slant 6 lift points

I bought some bolts and washers this morning for lifting....they had some heavy angle iron at the hardware store I almost bought to make my own lift "plate" but decided that since others used just the bolts I should be OK.....crossing fingers. LOL Right now working on getting the clips for...

    Slant 6 lift points

Thanks......so ypu suggest leaving the manifolds on for the lifting? Also, I am borrowing an engine crane but buying an engine stand at harbor freight. I was gonna go for the heavy-duty one with the two legs out the front. I am also thinking about buying their "load leveler".......since I will...

    Slant 6 lift points

Sorry to revive such an old thread but I find myself facing the same questions.....pulling a slant 6 from a 1980 Volare. Those two little bolts are adequate for lifting the whole engine out???? And would there be any issue in not pulling the transmission at the same time?

    Which engine is Cooler?

Well, I have heard stock Hemi with headers and pipes (and cats) and they are just (sorta) loud.....still too smooth. If you take off the cats and such, you get into the "souped up" realm......I assumed we were talking stock, and that's why I said "unless it is all hopped up". It isn't just...

    Which engine is Cooler?

I like the thought of a new HEMI engine in an old Mopar, but unless its all hopped up, it is too quiet and smooth to be the coolest. Nothing like an old school engine (big or small block) IMHO....the look, the sound, the smells.......Of course you get more HP out of a stock new Hemi than a...

Fuel sending units read WRONG time after time!

Yep, I have that...one of the first thinbgs I played with (folks here and elsewhere suggested it). FST73_360 -- would like more info on this . I had one of the replacement senders apart and it was setup exactly like the old one........basically a rheostat-type of thing...a coil stretched...

Fuel sending units read WRONG time after time!

Well, I am not sure what you mean by that..... I used an OEM style sender.....when I pulled the old original one it looked the same as what I was putting in.....??? So not sure....but if that is the issue I guess that explains it..... But wouldnt an "oem style" part be the correct type?

Fuel sending units read WRONG time after time!

Actually, I had measured my current (assume original) tank when I had it down and empty. Added 5 gallons to the empty tank to get me to the gas station, about 3 miles away, and added another 9 gallons. That is why I have been figuring 14 gallons. But like I said, according to the books my tank...

Fuel sending units read WRONG time after time!

I better probably clarify a little though - When I say it worked, it did....mostly. LOL When I fill up the tank, it reads full. When it says there is a half tank it was pretty close. When it reads 1/4 tank, though, not so sure it perfect. When it hits 1/4 tank, I can get 10.5 or so gallons...

Fuel sending units read WRONG time after time!

I ended up soldering a small wire from the arm of the sender to the body.....it was suggested to me by someone else and it worked... More info here in a thread I posted a few years back with the saga... http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=67680.0

:blob::cheers::blob: Brakes work! E brake works (great!) !! Car STOPS, no leaks!!! Hit some potholes and the rear end is still attached!!!!! So, looks like so far so good with my rear end swap/disk brake upgrade. Definately an improvemnet in braking, and I havent touched the...

Sorry if I interpretted it that way....but telling a guy he cant be pleased because he expects another man to be true to his word, well, I took that as ridicule.....if you didnt mean it that way, forget I said anything. I very carefully calculated the anticipated costs for buying the kit used...

Yeah its funny how he was all nice and ready to help until he got the cash in his hand. I have been there done that before, but like I said - NEVER with a fellow Mopar enthusiast....I am not naive enough to think that Mopar folks can screw ya -- just never happened before. Most Mopar folks...
